a fully CG short-film that took me ~220h to create!
hey steemit,
after ~220 logged hours, i am really proud to present this fully CG - albeit very - short-film: porcelain.
porcelain is a private portfolio short-film for BITFLARE, a 3D/VFX agency in Berlin.
the entire scene was produced in houdini 16.0.504.20 to prove the new boolean cutting as a stable method for pre-fracturing.
please watch in full-screen at full resolution, and turn the volume up :)
ps. if people are interested in the technicalities of how this was created, i'd be happy to share an in-depth explanation of the cg and physical methods applied.

Nice! I think the fracturing sound doesn't match the visual breaking however. You see a hundred fractures but only hear a couple of cracks. Otherwise really cool.
thanks! yeah.. well, i got a hold of my brother and pushed him to design the sounds (which are complex if contemplated - the scene itself due to the lighting and camera is, would it be real, small, and yet the energy of the shot had to be one of majestic massiveness) within a week, while it took me months to create the visuals. the deadline got the best of us. we are planning on revisiting the sound, though, as it's too still in the beginning! and thank you again!
