Introducing Niche. A resue dog that was brought in lately.

A few short weeks ago the staff at the rescue center responded to a call about a terrified dog,who had taken up refuge in a shed in a rural area....He had been cowering at the back of this shed for 3 days, as the staff arrived, after work to help him. You can see from the video below the terrified state that the poor dog was found in.

He was indeed a very terrified, traumatized boy... Who was so fearful of humans and their touch... But they managed to gather him up and bring him back to the safety of the Sanctuary.

Things didn't change between Niche and humans over the first few days, so they introduced Jellie Collie to him ( A friendly and relaxed rescue dog. One who knows how things work)....and that was it. Niche decided that us humans were OK and following Jellies lead, he got up close and personal with us, loving the attention.

Niche quickly turned his life around...He looked forward to greeting the people every morning, enjoyed his walks and runs but mostly he enjoyed a cuddle.

Still shy around new people but we know knew he was capable of overcoming that initial shyness and could be a much loved family pet.

On Saturday, A lovely family came to meet Niche... They understood his shyness and reluctance to make friends straightaway...
They were willing to let him come to them in his time....
Even before they left,he had taken small steps in greeting them...

The required home checks were done on the same day and just after lunch, little Niche was collected by his new family, who just couldn't wait to get him home to his bed, beside the fire.

This is the best result possible from the point of view at the center....

Where the sad... lonely.. terrified and broken are made whole again.... Enough so they can go on to amazing families who will continue what was started....

This is all we want for every dog in our care.. That chance to show they are indeed worthy and deserving of so much more.
