A member of one of my Facebook groups (on machine learning) made this book recommendation just yesterday. I sneak peeked it and, at a glance, it seems a good fit for those who are just starting out with machine learning.

The book introduces the basics of AI and machine learning in an informative and entertaining way. Here are some of the topics discussed in the book:

  • introduction to machine learning, history of ML
  • basics of ML: types of machine learning, practical aspects, learning models, applications of ML
  • algorithms: ensembles, supervised, semi-supervised, and unsupervised learning
  • 3 chapters on decision trees
  • concepts of deep learning
  • concepts of artificial neural networks
  • and more.

This is not a comprehensive guide because ML is a vast field. However, this is a very good semi-technical resource to start with if you're new to ML. And, what's important to specify is that the book has just been released this past August and the current Kindle price is $3.56. So, if this seems fit, you can grab your copy and start learning/practicing now:

I'd like to add: there is a book bundle for Data Science on Humble Bundle (the famous "pay what you want website").
There are some books even an experienced programmer may appreciate.

Looks interesting, and helpful ! I will check it out. Thanks for posting it! :-)

Awesome. Thanks for the advice on a book to start with. Whats the difference between machine learning and computer programming?

a comparison between the two is inappropriate. computer programming encompasses machine learning. to put it in other words, you used programming for machine learning.
