Asking Questions: To Make Better Decisions

One of the main reasons why some business people make poor decisions is because they want to do the thinking all by themselves. They want to make every single decision on their own. But this isn't how the most successful businessmen function. They ask more and more questions.

When you have a team or a business, and there's an important decision to be made. If you're not absolutely certain what to do - you should have a meeting, and ask for the opinion of every single person present. Sometimes, you may get your most brilliant ideas from the most unlikely source.

That's why it's important to ask different kinds of people, not just those that you think are extremely smart. You may also ask for professional advise from perhaps a consultant or an expert on the issue you're having. By having these many ideas and opinions, you'll tend to have a better overall view of your challenge.

Most times businessmen get stuck in their own perspective. You don't want to be stuck in your own view - such that you can't see the bigger picture. In order to make a well balanced decision on some delicate issues, you need to be able to see beyond yourself and your personal opinion on the matter at hand.

When you observe the lives of the most unsuccessful people, you'll start to notice that these people want to make every decision by themselves. Sometimes people that haven't learned much in life, are the ones assuming themselves as geniuses, and that they need nobody else's idea. But to reach greater heights of success, you cannot be stuck in just your own views.
