This fine feathered grifter was posing for tourists at a viewpoint with his mate.

Of course, my son had to attempt to "falcon" the plush corvid using a wheat thin cracker. Ravens are his favorite birds--and he is a bird lover--so we count this as one of the peak experiences of our trip.

Blessings to you and yours, and may the creatures you love best be your familiars.

How beautiful! There is something special about ravens.

I agree. They are so intelligent and also very playful. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing a genuine experience of yours! I have followed and upvoted. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

I have an affinity with ravens. In spite of my strong ornithophobia. Ravens are different to other birds.

They really are. I read that they have a lot of education from their parents over the course of a year or more. A pair nests near my mom's place, and give their fledglings lessons in her yard sometimes. My son does an excellent mimic which calls ravens to come have a look at him.

Really!???? they come over when he calls????!!! That is COOL!!! I will try it :) I go out wandering and looking for Ravens virtually every day. As @girlbeforemirror I have a crazy obsession with Ravens. Don't really know why. The weird thing is - as with choosing my eldest son's name and also turning vegan, I had no idea Ravens were so popular when my obsession began! Must be something in the air (lol) :)

"Something in the air" I love your humor :))

If you like Ravens then you might enjoy some of my poetry as, like I say, I'm obsessed haha here's the one I'm considering doing for a poetry slam at our local lit fest in a couple of weeks. I do it as a performance piece and really get quite animated towards the end. It was actually based on my original Raven obsession - but he's gone now, replaced with a new muse, so the first line should be "silence YOUNG Raven" not old. It's basically a flirtation with temptation. Anyway, you may enjoy so am sharing xxx https://steemit.com/poetry/@girlwithoutwings/ta-ta-taboo

I am excited to read it!

Fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing. Ta-Taboo Raven!

I think if I had to come back as an animal, it would be a raven. They really seem to have a good time playing in the air currents. They use their wiles to get food, including spotting game too big for them to take down, and calling predators by mimicking them.

I, too, love hiking around the foothills. There is a certain elevation I call raven level, where they can launch from the cliffs to play in the thermals. They love to check out strangers coming through. My son's croaking seems to make them curious about a human playing at their own game. I call him Raven Troll ;)

Raven is a powerful name and imo totem.

Blessings to you!

Wow - what great photos - it's like the raven was posing for a photo shoot. I went to Bryce canyon once as a kid and I remember loving it - all of those colors and it was actually hike-able for us to do in a single day. Great video of your brave son! I would be a little nervous with that long beak!

Thanks so much for coming over to see. I, too, had fond childhood memories of Bryce, and it didn't take much arm twisting to convince the guys.

Lol, my son is fearless and is kind of an all around animal whisperer. He realllllly wanted that raven to step onto his arm.

He is also colorblind, so the vermillion hoodoos look tan to him.....

Thanks again!

So amazing!! I love my encounters with birds!! Thank you for sharing it made my day. :)

Yay, glad to hear it! Thank you
