Sustainability - Gratitude #60
I would love if one day I won’t have to buy my vegetables but can just walk out to my garden to harvest what I need. That would be a dream come true. To live a (mostly or partially) self-sustainable life. But at the moment I’ll just have to make do with what I have.
This morning I harvested some beautiful long beans from my garden.
Every morning when I water my plants I carefully look into the thick bush and behind the wall. Yet I sometimes still miss some so I allow them to age so that I can use the seeds for the next sowing. I keep them in a labeled bottle in the fridge where they last longer.

Here I have some beans that I have collected through the week. As I collect them I keep them in a bag and leave them in the fridge till I have enough to cook for a meal.

Almost a month ago I sowed some of the seeds @rpattwell (aka #5) bought me from UK. Cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli. I should have known not to sow them when we were so busy because I forgot all about them and they died. I’ll have to start all over again 😬.
Here are some photos to compare when they sprouted healthily (even with a heart shape) and now when they’ve dried up.
Just three days ago we had a terrible storm in the middle of the night. I was heart broken when I saw that the trellis of my beans broke and I thought that was the end of that!
But I managed to prop the broken end with another stick (tied tightly) and secured the other end to the pillar of the wall. It’s better than new! 😅
Working towards a organic sustainable life aint easy, but it is gratifying 😊

I live in a condo though
But where there's a will there's a way
We are already researching to work with hydroponics
Hopefully it works out because we have never done this before
