Crazy China- The Good & the Bad of daily life. Part 1

in #blog6 years ago

Hi everyone, welcome back.

In case you don't know me I'm Keke ( pronounced Kirkir), a Canadian kiwi that has been living in the south of China for over 10 years.

In this post I'm going to scratch the surface of daily life. I want to remind readers that these are just my opinions and that I love living in China and the opportunities it has provided me.

So let's kick off with a juicy one.

I suspect this behaviour stems from not having anything or very little in the past. The thing that pushes my buttons is when people don't line up or wait their turn. This happens everywhere.

In hospitals when you're waiting to see a doctor, getting on or off a bus, train, elevator, airplane everywhere really.

So I'll share a little story. I was in a bank and had waited about an hour to see a teller, this is normal in China, so I am finally being served and I have all my cash, passport and other necessary bits out when a woman leans over me,I am seated, and starts asking the teller questions. To my horror the teller starts a conversation with this woman and that's when I lost my S#*T. the manager came over and calmed me down, I did my banking and left. So that is one of the struggles.

Now I'll give you one of the bonuses to living in China.
number one has to be the ability to travel within south east Asia so easily.
Thailand in two hours, Cambodia in three or travel inside of China.
These are the Lime cast hills of the Guilin and Yangshou region. Absolutely beautiful.crazy china guilin.jpg

Can still see scenes like this in China.
Another reason I love living here despite everything I may say, is the holidays and festivals.
There are so many and they are celebrated with vigor.

Chinese new year is amazing. The largest human migration every year.

Spring Festival.

But at the end of the day if you don't truly love what you are doing, you will never find happiness.

I found my true happiness, and it is teaching children English. I am still so young at heart, I credit that to the fact that I spend so much time in the classroom teaching or guiding students.
