The Chilli's Are Here!
Hey everyone, keen for a hot serotonin boost?? Why not munch a chilli or three? Gardening one of the best things ever. I germinated these chilli's around 4 month ago in the middle of Winter, the benefit of germinating early in the season is that you get a great head-start, come Summer, once they start fruiting as they are here they grow very fast, given they are fed well and have great soil.
My fertilizer of choice, Urine, Epsom Salts and Molasses, yes really, check out my other urine fertilizer posts, that stuff is a miracle solution for nutrient deficiencies in plants and soil it truly is as gross as it sounds.
Here I did a great example of the test case, The plant on the right was broken in half around 2 months ago. My landlords daughter stood on it. I decided to try an experiment nurturing the plant on the right with Urine and the left not at all.
Generally when plants go to bolt (seed) young as the one on the left they are nutrient deficient, in just a few short weeks the plant on the right way surpassed the development and size of the plant on the left and has not gone to seed yet. Absolute proof the fertilizer works like a dream!
Zoomed in the plant with the fertilizer...
Zoomed in the plant that never got my special magic mix, stark difference right? That stuff truly is miraculous!
I currently have around 9 Chilli plants in these rows, here we have one of the bigger ones flowering nicely in preparation for some nice fruit about to follow. Not too sure why these are called fruit as they are as hot as hell.
The general broad botanical classification of Fruit are that they have seeds, vegetables do not, check more out here as per www.livescience.com: Botanically speaking, a fruit is a seed-bearing structure that develops from the ovary of a flowering plant, whereas vegetables are all other plant parts, such as roots, leaves and stems. ... This includes such botanical fruits as eggplants, bell peppers and tomatoes. Check that full blog here https://www.livescience.com/33991-difference-fruits-vegetables.html
I really enjoy the names of Chilli's much the same as those of Cannabis, from 'Kootingal Firecracker' to 'Uncle Ben's Smoking Hot Carolina Reaper' 'Moruga Scorpion' to 'Hungarian 'Brown'. The Chilli plants I currently have are all of the above and more, what the fruit will look like I am not sure and I am also not sure which of my current plants are which, as they fruit I will send pics to my supplier and ask him which are which :) I do know what a Carolina Reaper fruit looks like and they are fierce.. Check a few pics out over here as per www.google.com https://www.google.com/search?q=carolina+reaper+pics&client=firefox-b-d&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=tjUllNoe-q6yEM%253A%252CewImefckb1nEBM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kSpr9iGOtp9xvhC_v4agzf5eq5dzQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi715fSmKPlAhWRtXEKHZU2Cp4Q9QEwAHoECAQQHg#imgrc=tjUllNoe-q6yEM:
If they taste anything like they look we certainly are in for a 'fun adventure' with them. I can't wait!
I eat chilli's on pretty much anything, just not corn-flakes, mind you, maybe worth a try? What I plan to do in a few weeks when I have quiet a few more is make some epic hot chilli sauce. I normally spend around R35 ($2.50) a week on chilli sauce, it is going to be so nice having to save that money making my own but also much healthier option without all the additives one finds in commercial sauces.
Here in the same vegetable patch I planted some sweet Genovese Basil, these are great in salads, cooking etc. I plant to make a fantastic basil pesto when these mature. Another great example of plants that do really well with my 'secret fertilizer' two weeks ago these were yellow, small and battling, after just administering my man made, home made fertilizer, now thriving, truly incredible!
Gardening and nature truly do render daily blessings, it really is like Christmas every day of the week ;)
I trust you have a super cool week further!
Cheer$;)
