E-Scooter Daily Commute!
Hey everyone, I thought I would try something a little different for a change, how does documenting my daily commute? It is Africa and albeit all the issues rather pretty indeed.
6 dogs on this property where I live. My landlords house in the backdrop thatch roof, nothing beats it, my cottage down to the left is also thatch, I just love it. 6 beautiful dogs 1 Ridge Back 'Lavazza' 2 Boerboels 'Lungo and Keano' Two Dachunds 'Tinkie and Douwie' and a JackRussel 'Espresso'
Home sweet home and off I go...
The main road just outside my house. No super highway right? But this is how I prefer it, a three block long dusty road which meets a small tar road a block long and then one of the main arteries running through Pretoria, Lynnwood Road!
Driving along and recording the unique and interesting sights and sounds of Africa..
Most of my ride is done off road and some of the roads here are rough. I do this as my Electric Scooter is not Roadworthy so don't really have a choice. It also only goes 60kmph, often I bump into friends who spotted me driving on the pavement here there and everywhere.. LOL
We have been having tons of rain of late, so everything is so green and beautiful albeit going into Autumn, great for pictures and great for my bees!
The Jacaranda trees just outside my house on the dust road, they appear to be making a 'tunnel' look so spectacular and really pretty when the purple flowers bloom.
Here these roadside informal traders are making trellises from black wattle branches. These are common roadside and sell very well and can be used in gardens for creepers to grow on, block unsightly area's as a 'cheap wall' etc!
This is what I like to call a 'Roadside Mall' many of these in South Africa as we have high unemployment rates, folks do what they can to make ends meet. Some of the things they sell are really resourceful and creative, great to see!
Here I am parked at a Real Mall, I was surprised to find the power out here due to 'Loadshedding' planned power outs to relieve grid strain. The bad thing here is this mall has Solar Back up however not much effect in store as many of them were closed? Africa sure has its challenges!
Back to home sweet home, nothing beats it, a nice home coming welcome from the 'wolfpack'. I am normally rather hot after this commute, the African Sun is no joke. So settling in with a nice glass of home made ginger aid is in order.
Talking of that I shall be doing a blog on that recipe soonest. I currently make a 'ginger bug' as I hear yeast is not healthy, be sure to stay tuned for that.
Have a fantastic Thursday, Africa Style.
