Hey everyone, I thought by starting this with the best pic first, What amazing views and sunsets we have in Sunny South Africa, especially when one takes them from a high point like this mountain where a few of our hives are placed!

Here we have my landlord moving rocks to make the road easier for his 4x4 to be able to get a closer access to our hives in the mountains.

The rest of the way we walk..Walking up with heavy honey laden hives between rocks nooks and crannies on this treacherous environment certainly is tricky and rather dangerous too!

This piece of land (farm) is based in Pretoria East a glorious place called bashewa, an amazing view from the foot of the hill looking up at the hives as well as from the top overlooking the valley!

This novel steel stand is brilliant. When we put these hives here we were told that this was a wild area and that monkeys wild pigs etc decimate hives. This stand was made to withstand that. Higher and more robust than most stands as well as with a chain can tie all the hives together to the frame.

The stand holds 5 hives which can get very heavy up to around 400 kgs or more depending on how many supers are on each hive and how much honey as well as naturally the season (honey flow dependant)

After an epic day a harvest of around 25kgs of lovely wild honey, a really stunning evening, epic sunset, off we went to go and process our recent harvest!
