From attending the Nutcracker Ballet to tearing up the landscape with a four wheel drive, I find pleasure in a wide spectrum of activities.

My life can range from a scene like this -

A wild, beer-fueled Jeep chase through the country.

To this.

A formal dinner at a grand dining hall on a cruise ship.

I can appreciate a weekend here -

Or here, watching a river flow by while drinking a cold brewskie.

My overnight accommodations might be in a tent on the ground, many miles from civilization.

Or here, at an elegant casino hotel, finely dressed for a company Christmas party.

I am a bit odd and unusual.

I have been known to attend performances like Phantom of the Opera, Riverdance, and as I mentioned already, The Nutcracker Ballet. I love classy forms of entertainment. But I prefer hard work and getting filthy!

I want a pond, so why not rent an excavator and start digging it out?

We needed two more bedrooms in our house, so why not tear off the attic and build it myself?

When the weather gets hot, a clean, chlorinated swimming pool is great.

But a swampy pond in the woods feels just as refreshing!

"Fine dining" could be a night out with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. But more likely it is fish frying over a campfire!

I love the life God gave me. And I thank my parents for the influences which helped me become who I am today.

I give credit to my mom for my appreciation of fine music, reading, and performing arts. I thank my dad for the love of the country, although I have certainly taken it to the next level.

To conclude, I would like to take the attention from myself and give it to you.

What are some of your most unique characteristics? The ones that make you different from anyone else? God didn't create us to be replicas of other people. We were intended to be individual, unlike anything else on earth. Have fun with it!

Oh wow, this is exactly how my husband and I raise our son. Together we are a mix of the performing arts and outdoor living. I want my son to have a taste of it all. Great post!!

Thanks! It's good to expose our children to a wide array of things. It builds character, I think.

I am the same way! I like getting dirty in the garden and hiking mountain trails but I clean up well to appreciate the "finer things" with pinkies out. LOL

Have you ever felt looked down upon by people who wear suits and ties, when you are wearing work or casual clothes? I feel like I have. But I don't mind. Because who would survive large-scale disasters? The type who wear fancy suits and sit in an office, or the type who get dirty and work hard?

Oh, I've had more than my fair share of being looked down upon - not because of merit but because of how I look, or dress, or even what my job was. Waitressing was probably the worst for it. And I agree with you. We'll survive because we can overcome adversity and don't mind putting our hands in the dirt to thrive.

Hey great post. I can relate to you in so many ways as I love the same type of things!

I guess in Canada the equivalent would be a "high class hoser"!

All the best to you and your family.

@kus-knee (The Old Dog)

Haha I've never heard of a hoser! Thanks for your reply!

Grin. I get that. I once drove an Aston Martin over a bridge in France I had slept under the year before. More and more inclined to the primitive, though.

Wow! That's one heck of a story! Have you shared that on Steemit?

No, I haven't got any photos of it 8-P.

I love Chopin, Mozart, Shakespeare, chess, art, tennis....and I play Bluegrass on the five-string banjo plus I think Karen Carpenter's voice is a gift from the gods. How's that for a wide range? 😊

Heck yeah. I think people with a diverse range of interests are fascinating. I can't say I am familiar with Karen Carpenter. But I do recall thinking the same thoughts about the singer from the band Evanescence. Her vocals in My Immortal chill me down to my core.

The third picture down is practically my backyard. I have clients on the Lake Michigan shore and can see a distant version of that scene across the Lake.

The fancy stuff is okay once in a while. The everyday stuff is where I'm more comfortable. It's funny, because getting all gussied up and putting on my best manners just to sit through dinner and a show seems like work to me. However, the sheer physical effort of, say, a camping trip is the most relaxing thing I can think of. I'm weird that way. ;-D

I'm like you, then, because putting on my nice clothes and acting like a gentleman takes an incredible amount of effort. I prefer to eat like a cave man and belch out loud. Camping is definitely the most relaxing environment!

Maybe on the next camping trip, I'll bring some classical music for the boombox. The best of both worlds!

A real Renaissance man. That is one of the secrets of life, to enjoy fully, wherever you are at the time. Think that is one of my characteristics, a tendency to go for immersion into wherever I am at the moment. Really get to experience things fully. Thanks for the post.

Thank you for the reply. I agree. Immerse yourself in the moment, and fully take in every experience.
