Cymatics – Secrets of Sound

By studying the vibrational phenomena within their resonance, sound waves hold radical potential to bring humanity into a new scientific age.

Perceptive scientists have already begun breaking ground, discovering a stunning connection between organic matter – flowers, snowflakes, organisms - and sound waves.

Sonic Geometry

This Cymatic music video is a beautiful introduction to the field. Watch as cymascopes reveal the hidden geometry created by musical notes! Composed by Nigel Stanford

The Next Scientific Revolution

This field has further application beyond making exciting music videos.
Allow me to direct your attention to a blockbuster article by Timothy Trespas.

Harmonic Patterns In Nature.png

This image introduces us to three fundamental geometric shapes found in resonant sound waves. These shapes manifest in breathtaking ways.

The pentagon, for example, manifests in many flowers, like this Campanula flower.

The Hexagon manifests in the weather of Saturn's southern pole:

Other patterns can be seen in microscopic matter.

This prehistoric sea creature from the Jurassic period bears a striking resemblance to a 5,000Hz resonant pattern:

Organic Molecules and Organic Matter

From small scale to large scale we find these fundamental shapes. Notice how they appear in the balance of chemical compounds while living matter also expresses similar structures!

Dolphin Research Applications

The article goes on to describe how some aquatic scientists are taking steps to further their understanding of dolphins using cymatics.

These scientists are using cymascopes to visualize images of dolphin sonar pulses to assist decoding the aquatic animal's natural language:

A New Age

Consider the microscope. Ordinary people could not entertain the notion of a miniature world teeming with bacteria before its invention. Now we do understand. All of this understanding was made clear with the microscope. We can now visualize molecular structures, single-celled organisms, and even the complexity of multiple cells working in tandem to support a larger organism perceived as one living entity.

Will the cymascope have the same dramatic effect on our understanding of Nature and the Universe around us?

If you have been following my blog then you are familiar with the theme of investigating the link between the behavior of vibrations in music, matter, and energy. This is the most comprehensive article I have yet discovered on the subject.

All screenshots used in this post are taken from Timothy Trespas' article with the exception of the black and white image of Saturn and the thumbnail from Nigel Stanford's music video on Youtube.

if we find our cymatic wave of the body we can do wonderous things. 77.77 upvote to you. Good Luck!

I am honored to receive such a meaningful number from this gesture. A cymatic wave of the body must be a powerful sight!

Holy shite!! So interesting. Thanks for this.

I am right there with you, @havok777. I cannot get enough of this research and I can't wait for more scientists to explore the field!

I would use each geometric pattern formed from my own music for my own album art. I will look into this.

This is an exciting idea- one I have been exploring as well. I hope more artists do this in the future!
