Why Dtube's New Curation Strategy Gives Them A Competitive Advantage // This is GOOD for Content Creators

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

Hi Dtube Fam!

Like any other Dtuber today... I've spent some time pouring over the latest Post from Dtube trying to figure out what all the changes mean for the platform, for me as a content creator, for other content creators, for curators etc.

One of the biggest changes we are seeing is in their approach to curation rewards.

Just to clarify... in this video I am only talking about the change in where the 25% delegation fee is going... and am not addressing any other sections of the post.

Changing Up The Delegation Reward Structure

One of the biggest holdups people have with using Dtube, is the 25% delegation reward that they collect. I thought it was super interesting that @dtube talked about this so much in their post. It sounds like they have really gone back and forth on how to approach this.

One of the most beautiful parts of the Steem ecosystem... is that this is all an experiment. Instead of dropping the delegation reward like other applications on the Steem blockchain have done (most notably Dlive), they have decided to take a different approach.

That 25% will now be going directly back to the curators. This may not seem like it impacts content creators, because they are still losing 25% of the profits - but I think this is actually really positive for everyone involved.

For many large investors, they are looking for the best return on investment. With these new changes, they can now receive a much higher curation reward... simply for upvoting Dtube videos. This has the potential to attract higher quality votes for Dtube videos.

This Change Has Allowed me to Give Back to my Supporters... Without Changing Anything I'm Doing

One of the coolest parts of this change, is that the people who are supporting my posts - are now getting an extra reward, simply because I happen to be posting on Dtube. Many of these supporters would likely support my content no matter what application I post on... but the fact that I happen to be posting on Dtube is now positively impacting them.

I actually went to each of their wallets to see the affect and was really excited to see the extra rewards they are now earning from @dtube.rewards.

Let's See How this All Shakes Out!

This video is just some of the potential benefits I see to the new curation rewards system - but it will be interesting to see how everything ends up landing. Like @heimindanger said in the post, this is all an experiment - which means nothing is set in stone. One thing I appreciate about the Dtube team is that they are willing to change and adapt with the needs of the community.

I definitely see the potential benefits of this change and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the .8 update.

If you guys have any questions - let me know and I will do my best to help!

xo, Lea

Equipment Used in this Vlog

In order to add an extra layer of transparancy and value to my vlog's, I will be adding a list of equipment used at the bottom of each one! If you ever have questions about the gear I use, or how I use it - please don't hesitate to ask.

Good interpretation and I can agree with your thoughts.

Thanks! There was so much packed into that post... it was a bit hard to figure out how everything would land. This is just my reaction to one piece of things!

I agree that this is positive. This makes curating posts sort of like eco-mining of the steem cryptos. This is good for decentralization of the coin. The more people who own it, the more will be traded and used. The more it's used, the higher the market cap will go as people try to stay above the mean steam power wise. I am super bullish on steem long term because of unselfish changes like this.

Eco-mining is a great way to put it. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out!!

I did see some curation rewards from dtube on upvotes on videos I thought it was really kind of them honestly and a great way to spark more upvotes for great content via video!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

Wow, great point about the curators! Never thought of it in that way. Always enjoy your positive outlook. Take care

Thanks Kevin. ♥️ I know it’s been a confusing last 24 hours for Dtuber’s... but I thought the shift in the 25% delegation rewards has potential to help the platform overall.

Very much, take care!

It's awesome that given such a great opportunity, you find ways to involve your audience, giving back to them and just distributing wealth. This is what I believe the economics of Steemit and Dtube should be like, and I would say that you're a witness to that.

Keep doing what you do!

Aww thanks for the comment @chunger!! I really appreciate your encouragement.

I must commend you as you explained it way better than they did! It made my head spin and they were getting mad at people for not understanding the post. Thanks for the interpretation!

I noticed that too. 😞 It honestly took me a while to decipher everything and figure out what it all meant too.

Thank you for explaining this better because I was wondering about this a lot and now it really makes sense and I think dtube is doing great and amazing things for this whole platform.

Great interpretation, I think dtube is doing great and amazing things for this whole platform.

I really enjoy the curation upgrades as well!

Thanks for the sharing. This clarifies what is dtube.rewards about. I am receiving a stream of little transfers from dtube.rewards due to my regular support to many dtubers.
