When I look at you, I see us
Your touch, your smile, your eyes
On mine
Entranced your hands, and mine
Entwined
Our lives, our love, two paths
Combined
Forever, a word so fragile.
Unwind.
Rewind it all, remember a time.
When love was enough.
So young, yet so rough,
A present painted warm colors,
No eyes but for one another.
This was a follow-up to "USMC Iraq the Bigger Picture" but only in technique, not content.
I took 21 images from my then wife and mine's honeymoon and painted them together so that behind them, a shadow of the two of us together, another image of her resting her head on my shoulder might emerge.
This is a painting that was too painful to hang onto.
But the love that it depicts was real and will not be forgotten.
Nicely crafted poem, though with bitterness in the air. Upvoting, do check my poems, lets have discussion :) . Greetings!
yes, hard to remember these times without bitterness although when it was painted the love was still there. Ce la vie
The painting was worth sharing, the poem helped me deal with deciding to look at it.
Thanks for the Original poem.... Took on way more importance when I read ur reply to @bacus15. Wow...with the poem and painting...u were really diving in there emotionally.
Thanks @lexikon082 I try to not hold back when I am creating.
I've read comments of urs around the net recently. I know ur purpose for this not only self healing but to help others, especially Military Veterans. What a mission! My thoughts are your way. And I am so glad to have discovered ur existence
Thanks man that really means a lot to me. I was a corpsman for the Marines (medic) so it was my job to look after their well being while I was in uniform. Thing is, we need it even more when we are out of uniform and suddenly realize we are carrying some heavy weight we can't put down. My marines would have given their life to save mine in combat. I'm going to do what I can to help all veterans. And anyone who wants to participate in the discussion of course. It just seems that combat veterans have a way of holding all of their pain inside until often it literally kills them. I want to reach out to them with my artwork and let them know that they aren't alone and show them something that might ease the hurt inside of them or at least give them the courage to face it head on.
the all veteran mission speaks so much
I served with...I believe the 2nd marines at a camp called Al Taqaddum in 04. We were an Army Battalion without a home on a Marine Base. Keep ur mission flowing bro. So many parts of ur reply spoke to me. Keep it up. There are many mil vet brothers looking at you...in a good way....we want to be there brother. And what you are doing for others....Thanks so much.
so glad ur in Mil Vets Discord Its just a homebase. But it is a solid homebase for us on the net
Good old TQ yeah that was our staging ground for leaving country both times. I remember thinking "damn this is a nice tent" which just shows how you can appreciate the little things more when you've gone without for a long time.
But it was a shithole lol, and got mortared just about every day like every other base in that country.
Sorry for having to be a soldier stuck with Marines. =p but I was a sailor who got stuck with marines and was "squid" to plenty despite fighting by their side every day.
My last mission on my second tour was called Iron Horse or something like that and then we were attached to an army unit. They even gave us all medals for helping out when we finished which was pretty cool, so I got love for the soldiers.
