The Artists Adventure! Part 18 "Knowing your place"

Figured this was a religious production, so this is fitting right?

I'm super glad that I am extremely anonymous on here because I am going to be calling out a few people that in my opinion do not exactly know there place in a professional setting. So when you are at a rehearsal there is typically a hierarchy in which people are in charge. The Director is usually the guy who will dictate to others, and the actors are the ones who take the direction.

Well, I had a very interesting rehearsal today, in which two members of the cast kept blurting out opinions on how certain things should be done. Now I am typically pretty okay with getting feedback from other actors in fact I sometimes give my opinion back from time to time. But when you do it after every scene it really slows down the process. This has had to be one of the first times I have spoken up about professionalism out loud at a rehearsal. I stated that we need to dial back on giving out advice and leave that up to the director.

This may sound really whiny of me, but it is nye impossible to take direction from three or more people at the same time. Especially if some of there directions contradict the other, this really made the rehearsal longer then necessary and less efficient then it could have been. I suppose the main lesson here is to know your place in a production, if you are an actor your essentially supposed to sit down shut up, and do what you are told. Doing anything else is just going to waste everyone's time, because everyone has a specific job to do and they can't do it, while you are attempting to do there job as well.
