Colonial Building Knocked by hurricane.
Where did it go?
As I am standing in the opposite side, waiting on someone to come-out of a store, I decide to continue looking around to see how the pueblo looks after the hurricane hit.

Standing on the other side as is a known habit of mine of observing...

I'm thinking that the old balcony on top of the store on the opposite side looks odd shaped. So I decide to really focus on it. Here I'm trying to figure-out what exactly did hurricane Maria do to it.

So I decide to take a closer look with my camera. Upon closer inspection I see a piece of wall left on the far right hand side and another piece on the far left and rubble around the middle. I'm in shock and disbelief!

Now I decide to focus my attention on the store under that collapsed upper level and there's an open store with people trying to salvage their merchandise on the right side of the store. The ceiling is leaking water over the clothing. Not only is my heart broken for this architectural classic, but genuine concern for these three businesses that now have lost their stores and employees their jobs. It also looks quite unsafe and that one store should be closed as well and taped off for pedestrians safety.
Jobs lost
This is what has become of the pueblo and it's sustance ---the jobs! The pueblo is dead, very few stores open after a month of the hurricane and those few businesses are struggling. Many jobs have been lost, many citizens have been left without work in an island that was already struggling to stay afloat due to the bad economy, corruption and mishandling of money by unscrupulous and inept politicians in positions its constituents placed without careful research and thought.
It does not help either by having politicians in the states (USA) enjoying the men and women giving their lives in the military, but now considering the Commonwealth and its citizens as lesser American's than American's living in the states.
Worthy Of The Same Respect
I think, if they made Puerto Rico, a Commonwealth of the United States, just to the sacrifice of its' people's lives, then they are as good as gold to the great America of The United States. Just as any other citizen of America.

Of course they are! I speak as a typical American, not a politician. My sister-in-law and family live in Puerto Rico and have suffered the damage also. My heart weeps for the loss. Truly.
What a travesty the way things are being handled. For this I am sorry.
I did not know this. That saddens me as well, that you have loved one's here that know the loss and the hardships this has brought to everyone in one way or the other. Thank you for commenting. I hope they have at least the necessary and the utilities at this point.
The necessary but not the utilities yet. Soon. They hope. I hope all is well with you and you and your family are safe and doing as well as can be expected. xo
