LOVING GOD

The Bible says love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might. The measure of your love for God is a determining factor to how far you go in life as well as the measure of abundance and spiritual authority you gain. Eye had not seen, ear had not heard, neither had it entered into the heart of man, the things God had preserved for those that love him (1 Corinthians. 2:9). Loving God is a command or a summary of all of God’s commandments. But how do you love God? Apart from being a command, what makes loving God so important? Let’s look at it together.

How do you know you love God

1. You will love his word:
   David was a lover of God and His word. Psalm 1:2; 119:97-100. Every genuine lover of God will love His word. Just like a lady will always love to hear her man’s voice/ see his messages and vice versa. You must have a passion for God’s word. Check out Psalm1:2-4; 112:1 – The two passages show how blessings follow those that love God and His word. Loving God’s word is important as it opens you to realms of light and understanding, putting you in charge spiritually and physically.

2. You will love His house:
   Ps 122: 1. The house of the one you love is a desirable place to be. No matter how far you are from there. You will always have a longing to be there. You must have a desire to be in God’s house/presence. Just like making a phone call to your loved ones is a good thing, seeing them is much preferable. The same goes for loving God’s house.

3. You will love the Saints and brethren around you:
   Birds of a feather flock together. Your love for God shows in your company (Ps. 1:1). Jesus said that doing good to people on earth is the same as doing it to Him. This is not possible without love and for others. When you love God, you demonstrate love and God’s goodness to those around.

4. You will love the Unsaved:
   This is having compassion for the lost. Ask yourself, when you see someone who is not born again or someone living an ungodly life, what goes on in your mind concerning them, is it condemnation or compassion. Remember, God is love. Your love for God shows in your demonstration of love to the lost. Spread the word to your friends and family. John 3:16 shows how much God showed His love for man and we are to be like Him. Spread the word today and blessings will follow.

5. You will give cheerfully:
   Every lover of God is a cheerful giver. 2Cor. 8:8; 2 Chron.29:3. Your level of giving to God and giving to man shows how much you love God. Your compassion for those in need and your willingness to give your offerings in church meetings show your level of love.

WHY IS LOVING GOD IMPORTANT

1. The love of God is the key to fulfill God’s commandments
2. The love of God fills you with divine nature. Eph 3:17-20
3. The love of God causes all things to work for your good Rom 8:28

DEVELOP YOURSELF IN THE LOVE OF GOD

1. Make a choice to love God. It is a decision; decide today.
2. Ask for the baptism of the spirit of love. 2 Tim 1:7; Lk 11:13
3. Enter into a covenant to seek, serve and love God. 2Chron15:12-15.
