Wednesday Walk: Down by the river
Hello dear Steemians and photography enthusiast,
This time, I want to share with you my wednesday walk that I did with my girlfriend to a beautiful waterfall named Cascada de Calomarde. We took a resting day from all the bouldering we were doing lately here in Albarracín. The main goal was to recover some skin and give the sore muscles some rest. But still we wanted some activity so we decided to go for a little hike to a nearby waterfall. The path is only 4km in one direction and runs alongside the river Rio de la fuente del Barro.
We started at one of these bautiful picnic places you can find everywhere here in spain. It was located directly at the small river and had artifical moats all over the place. Close to a wooden bridge the river flows over a stone step making a loud rushing noise.
As usual the picnic place is perfectly equipped for a day out with freinds or family.
There is a house with spots for a nice barbecue and a lot of tables and benches.
We leave the picinic area and walk in the valley of the river for some time. On my way I take some detail shots of flowers and whatnot.
After a while the path gets closer to the river and the trees disappear. We stop at a point where the water of the river has washed out a big basin to dip our toes into the water.
After that, we walk alongside a field of fruit trees which we cannot identify. On one flower I spot a beautiful butterfly. Lucky me, he isn't shy at all and I'm able to take a decent shot.
A lot of small white daisys are growing on the way and lead us into a part of the valley with more trees again. The grass seems a lot more green and vital and we enjoy the shadow of the trees and the fresh smell of the river and its nearby plants.
After a short time we enter full sunlight again and walk over rather dry ground. Here another butterfly wants to show off again and spreads its wings infront of my lens. I never thought that I would be able to photograph so many butterflys as I did here in spain. :)
We follow the path, sometimes along side of the valley, sometimes close to the river and our enviroment is constantly changing.
Shortly before we reach the waterfall, we make two more intersting discoverys.
One is a very strange bug that my girlfriend spots. It has flat blue wings with red dots on it and the dots are lined with black. I have never in my life heard of or seen such an insect. Of course I tried to photograph it.
The other discovery was an abandoned house. It seemed like parts of the roof collapesd while people were still living in it. There were still all sorts of houshold articles around, like plates and salt. Actually there are a lot of old ruins here in spain, but I never saw one that still had furniture in it.
Shortly after the ruin, we arrived at the waterfall Cascada de Calomarde. I have to admit it took us a bit by suprise. The waterfall was big and beautiful and we were stunned. From above, we watched the water falling down for a while and listened to the raoring sound.
Then we walked down the small path and over a bridge untill we were standing in the refreshing spray of small droplets. After the walk under the hot sun it was an amazing feeling. It took us quite a while to cut loose. On the way back I stored the camera in my backpack and didn't shoot any photos. I already had so many (much more than in this post) that sorting and editing would take a long time.
Hope you enjoyed my entry for the wednesday walk,
if you did please let me know in the comments :)
Have a good week and see you next wednesday!
Constantin
PS: Have you noticed the armchair in one of the pictures? :D
Thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us. It looks like a very peaceful hike. I enjoyed it.
I'm glad that I was able to capture part of the beauty so you could enjoy it as well! :)
First off that waterfall is spectacular and so beautiful, I hope this walk wasn’t to long and your achy muscles are recovering,
Such a beautiful area thank you for sharing with us
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)
I'm happy you like it!
Although it was longer walk than usual, it was fine.
Because I was taking so many pictures we had a very slow and relaxed pace :)
I did love your walk, sometimes if the place for walking is pleasant it is so easy to loose track of time isnt it :)
For sure! Especially if you have no preset way in mind and you just start wandering around, attracted by the interesting things you discover :)
Ohh yes thats always my favorite way to go just go with the flow wherever your whim takes you
What a fantastic travelogue you provided. I love the blue flower and the picture of your gf chilling her toes her in the water.

Thank you @ozkdawg!
The one of the blue flower I like also very much,
due to the contrast with the dark background.
Wow! A fabulous place for a walk! The waterfall is incredible and that bug is simply gorgeous. I have never seen anything like that either. Great photos!
Thanks a lot!
I love the small bridge in front of the waterfall.
I think it looks like a scene in some kind of fantasy movie :)
And concerning the bug, I googled it, and I think its called Five-spot Burnet.
It's a type of moth and seems to be rather common in western europe.
Are you a professional photographer?
beautiful views are great, and your photo skills to shoot the scenery beautifully are also great!
I love all of the rivers, waterfalls and flowers that you chose to shoot!😃
And I love insects and I especially like pictures of the second butterfly!
I saw the butterfly and remembered my favorite insects, It's a Japanese insect called "Hanmyo"
Hanmyo is a species of beetle, but it has blue and red as beautiful as its butterfly😉
Anyway, Thank you for sharing wonderful photos!👏

Very nice of you to think that, but actually I'm not. :D

Thank you very much, @ryo-6414!
I'm happy you like it. I think I'm rather lucky to get so many opportunities to shoot butterflies.
The bug looks really cool! It always impresses me that insects can have such intens colors :)
Wow! That's great!
