#musicdiscovery - The King Blues - Punkrock!
I havent shared to much music on here recently but have stumbled upon a beauty of a punk rock band recently - The King Blues.
Although they are primarily punk rock music, they have a blend of ska and hip hop which gives them a unique sound - and there is also a fair share of tongue in cheek humor. There is an obvious influence in The King Blues sound from bands such as The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, NOFX and Pennywise. The album I am absolutely loving is their newest album The Gospel Truth, which was released in 2017. They have albums dating back to 2006 (so I have some catching up to do!).
If you are into punk/ska/rock music then I definetly reccomend giving them a listen! Here is the awesome punk rock inspired song Bullingdon Boys:

Oh I love the King Blues! I still get drunk and walk around singing "you can take your job and shove it, modern life, modern life has let me down"!! So glad to see someone else who is a fan! One day, I will get to see them live <3
If you haven't heard of him, you may like a guy called Yungblud, bring back british punk, I couldn't pick one song to recommend him by, so I would say try 'I love you, will you marry me', 'polygraph eyes' or '21st century liability' but then they are all great!

They are not really my cup of tea, but they are pretty good overall. I can definitely hear the Sex Pistols influence.

I like a lot of different genres from classical to hiphop. Some of my favorite bands, artists and composers are; Alice in Chains, System of a Down, Portishead, NIN, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, A Tribe Called Quest, Mob Deep, Depesch Mode, etc etc and a lot of different classic rock and 80s new wave. I've recently gotten into female UK grime artists such as Lady Leshurr, Nadia Rose and Lady Lykes.

Aarrrrrgh! No! Just no. Where is the snottiness? The anger and disgust? The scornful disdain? While these lads aren't without talent, and even showed a little peppy contempt here and there,
most of the songs i tried to listen to were polished until every speck of grit was glassy smooth. Harmonized and homogenized. This is about as threatening as Bay City Rollers or Leif Garret.
It's catchy pop, but to hear this referred to as punk just hurts. Hell, it's barely Rock. I cant watch my culture be sterilized without saying something.
Each to their own I suppose - to me this is punkrock but i agree it is polished. Never been a fan of the older punk, but love ska music!
My blog has some great examples of punk music that i've come across in the 35 years of living in this culture.
