My weekend getaway..

What is your favourite weekend activity? Many people use it to get things done that they didn't have time for during the weekdays...

Meeting up with friends, going for a short weekend getaway with family, making up sleep and baking cakes, these are all the things that I wanted to do during the weekend.

Last weekend, my husband and I drove all the way from Labuan to Kota Kinabalu and spent our weekend in one of our favourite resort in Kota Kinabalu, Langkah Syabas Beach Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

Langkah Syabas is located in Kinarut, 30 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu and just 15 minutes drive from the airport. There are 25 chalets, all with private balcony and just few steps away from the swimming pools.

We love Langkah Syabas because the location is close enough for a day trip from KK, but far enough to get away from the busy and hectic city lifestyle.

The rooms are fairly priced, clean, nothing fancy but they provided almost everything needed for a short stay. Therefore, if you are looking for a luxury accommodation, Langkah Syabas definitely is NOT the answer.

They have open-air restaurant which offers tasty Western and Asian cuisines but a little pricey in my opinion. We love to sit on the balcony of the restaurant because we can enjoy the view of mini golf area, the garden as well as the sea. The wind blowing makes us feel so calm and relax.

Oh by the way, do you know that Langkah Syabas is the first in Sabah to produce their own Camembert & Brie cheese?

The sunset view from the beach was lovely but too bad the water itself was very murky with lots of rubbish floating in it. Therefore, not recommended for swimming or snorkeling.

The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We were always greeted with a smile especially staff from the front desk and the restaurant.

Overall, we did enjoy our weekend getaway in Langkah Syabas. However, we do feel that there are still room for improvement on their buffet breakfast. Also, Wifi was slow and unreliable but that's not a big problem for us as we came to relax and stay away from the busy lifestyle.
