Five Reasons You Should Be On Steem Speak
Steam Speak on Discord is a great place to chat to people from all over the world about Steemit and cryptocurrencies.
With rival site Steemit Chat experiencing so many technical difficulties recently, I wanted to make a timely reminder about this superb text/voice alternative. You can access Steem Speak with your browser or using the Discord app. Here are my top five reasons every Steemian should check out Steem Speak right now!
5 - YOU'LL LEARN A LOT
Steem Speak is popular with a lot of "dolphins" and Steemit developers. Even just listening in to the discussions, you can learn a wealth of helpful information about Steemit. It's also a great place to get answers to your most specific questions. You can type in the general text chat, or get involved with the group voice conversations. A great way to learn and have fun at the same time.
4 - THE HIGHLIGHTS PODCAST
With the kind permission of @fyrstikken, I've started producing the official highlights show for Steem Speak on Youtube. It's a fun and punchy montage of the best discussions and rants on Steem Speak. People who regularly get involved with the voice chat can gain publicity from being featured on the podcast and given a shout out on the Steemit posts. As time goes on, if the podcast does well, I'll be able to share some rewards for things like "best comment" etc. Check out the podcasts here..
3 - BANJO & OTHER COOL ROBOTS
Banjo is one of the regular friendly robots on Steem Speak. Using the right commands, you can coax banjo to give you some useful information on your Steemit account, the price of STEEM, and other handy bits of info. Other robots serve up comics based on recent conversations, as well as other functions. Banjo is also quite the conversationalist, for a robot. Give it a try yourself.

I love Steemit Chat. I use it regularly. But it has been very unreliable recently, and throughout this time, Steem Speak on Discord has been up and running without a hitch.
1 - THE AWESOME COMMUNITY
There's only so much you can know about someone through text conversations. With voice chat, their personality really comes across. My number one reason to check out Steem Speak is the awesome community. With few exceptions, everyone is very friendly and helpful. It's a terrific place to network and build real relationships, and I'm happy to say I've made some genuine friends there in recent weeks.

I heard that steemit chat is about to be up and running again....I am intrigued about the podcasts of steem speak, I will look into it my friend.
I prefer Discord in general. It is a better user experience especially on mobile, and you can use voice which is much more important for bonding and social cohesion.
Absolutely. I've not bonded with people on the other site in near the same way I have on Discord. Cheers for the video, I'm half way through, interesting stuff.

Come give it a try. There are plenty of people on Steem Speak who are not native speakers.
I periodically go in but except hello friends do not know how to join the dialogue but soon I will try to do it ;)

Those chat rooms also mean that strong personalities drown out weaker, docile ones, probably why many don't join. I do join btw, just saying.

Yeh its a fact of life, some people are better in the spotlight than others. I have experience of someone losing an opportunity because chat rooms aren't their thing.
Yes, it can be the case at times when intellectuals start penis fencing. Fyrstikken is talking about introducing more rooms over time, so hopefully people will be able to get involved in some of the more relaxed chats. Even without the voice chat though, the text chat and one on one features are terrific.
