Several Ways To Conserve Water, Contributed by @anonymous

There isn't an unlimited supply of water, so it's important to take measures to reduce the amount that you're using. Flushing the toilet, taking a shower, and washing dishes. All of them can use up a significant amount of water, so you should try to take measures to reduce the volume that you're using.

Showering

One of the easiest ways to reduce the amount of water you're using while showering is to get a water-conserving shower head. Many of them don't feel like they're conserving water, I've owned one that felt like it was using more water than before.

Although it may feel like some of them use a lot of water, these water-saving shower heads typically have only a small hole that the water can travel through the pipes and into your shower. The one I owned used very little water, but still had amazing water pressure thanks to the tiny size of the holes in the shower head.

Another way to conserve water while showering is to put your shampoo in your hair first and let it sit while you wash your body with soap. Then do the same with your conditioner. I've known people who will wash their body first and then will just stand under the hot water for a long time while they let the shampoo or conditioner sit in their hair.

Flushing the toilet

The obvious way to conserve water here is to flush the toilet less often. If you're just urinating, you don't need to flush the toilet every time. Flushing your toilet half as much will conserve a lot of water!

A less obvious way to save water is to put a plastic jug inside the toilet (the back part, not the bowl). Cut the top of the jug off before putting it in. The water will still circulate, but you'll flush less water every time because the water that falls into the plastic jug will remain.

Washing the dishes

Instead of letting the water run into the sink the entire time you're washing dishes, put the plug in the bottom so it doesn't drain, and let the sink fill up.

Yes, you'll have to put your hands into dirty (but soapy) water to wash the dishes, but you'll use far less water than if you continue to let the water run the entire time.

Brushing your teeth

This might seem like an obvious one, but I've seen many people brush their teeth while they leave the water running the entire time! Just turn the water off while you're brushing your teeth. It's not difficult to do, it's no inconvenience to you, and it saves water.

Hopefully, these give you some ideas for things you can do to start conserving water.

Water management is essential. Even if your not conserving for this generation, you are conserving for the next.

Thanks for sharing @communitycoin, I wasn't really aware of the shower heads ability to conserve water till I read this.

It is need of now....many observer have already predicted the depletion of natural water rapidly. And shortage therein during coming day. I have seen many rivers already dried up...and many wells too in my native place....we need conserve it by only utilising it in proper way and avoid any wastages.....

Nice reminder post for new generation

Thanks
