Metal Slug is probably one of the most played and remembered games in history, all this may be due to its friendly gameplay that could even be adapted for two players simultaneously. That genre "Shoot 'em up" that was responsible for promoting Metal Slug, was later incorporated into different video games that even tried to copy all the design of Metal Slug, but that is something that SNK did not allow.

Currently there are many video games inspired by Metal Slug, but in particular I think some have more creativity than others, since some aim to copy all the style, while others have managed to evolve and improve their way. I do not think it's wrong to adapt the game style of Metal Slug in other games, as long as you have the ability to add new things and make it more modern and interesting there should be no problem.

Metal Squad: Shooting Game is a video game created and distributed by OneSoft Studio for Android and IOS platforms. The game is based on the Metal Slug series of video games, but it has certainly achieved its own creativity, making the game very entertaining and light, so it remains within our reach, since the weight of the controls are quite simple and easy to use.

Despite being a light and simple game if we trust in the weight and benefit of things, I consider that it has a very good graphic aspect, counting with quite intuitive colors and details that make it a little gem of the genre "Shoot 'em up " Available on our mobile devices and within reach of our pockets.

Game

At game level we can see that it has very striking colors oriented to reality, where you can easily distinguish all the details, creatures, enemies and main characters of the game, so that nothing escapes from our hands while playing at full speed.

Considering that it is a videogame that requires more speed than skill, the details and graphics are usually very important to not lose sight, even shots are usually very important, because we all want to see the extent of our attacks.

Interface

The menu and the interface are very easy to understand for all types of users, its interface is not very dynamic but it is quite comfortable since it does not have many submenus, usually everything is easy to reach, so that nobody loses its head. It has solid and opaque colors at the interface level that illuminate it for any of the mobile devices, decreasing the battery consumption when the game is paused or at rest.

Very deep in the important details, if we can find more striking colors, all in order to tell players what are the important things to review, as well as the missions that we must constantly overcome.

I think that a fundamental part in the videogames of the genre "Shoot 'em up" is a sound, because we all need a good sound that allows us to feel emotions, the adrenaline at important moments is fundamental to feel inside the game, in such a way always they keep us entertained.

From the shots to the soundtrack are factors to appreciate in Metal Squad, in fact it has a very good soundtrack in the moments of adrenaline, especially when we approach to face the Chiefs. In particular, I do not like to hear the sound of the shots because in the long run it generally stuns, but in fact the sound is very good, although it usually attenuates the soundtrack a bit.

Playing Metal Squad is quite simple, since it completely inherits the gameplay of Metal Slug, since both are very easy to play since they do not require much strategy, only good reflexes to dodge shots and keep advancing until we reach our goal.

The game has two types of selectable controls, personally I like to use the one on the left since I feel better in real time, surely there will be those who are more comfortable playing with the controls on the right, but the left is honestly easier, but also It depends on the screen of our mobile device.

The game is to advance in a straight line avoiding bullets, missiles, bombs and all kinds of attacks that our rivals throw at us, something interesting is that unlike other imitations of Metal Slug, in this case Metal Squad has managed to add little game themes differents, sometimes we must protect, liberate, fly and even survive a period of time according to the mission that comes to us in the game.

If you think the game is just running and shooting, you're certainly wrong, in fact, something that I really like about Metal Squad is that it has managed to perfectly incorporate three types of difficulties, which are; normal, difficult and super difficult. Each one with something that differentiates them, obviously I will not comment here because I consider it a spoiler.

The video game not only has the campaign mode, it also has a game mode that allows us to fight only against the boss of the maps, although they were mainly made to practice, by defeating them we can also obtain objects that will be really useful, we can obtain gold, grenades and improvements. The disadvantage of this game mode is that bosses tend to be more difficult to beat than in campaign mode, this is because it will not be necessary to face the subjects before facing the boss.

Currently the game has three characters, it is expected that a new update adds another character, it is presumed that it is a soldier. Although all the characters do the same, some have points of characteristics very different from the others, knowing that the harder it is to obtain the character, the better their characteristic points.

John D

This is the first character we can use, in fact it automatically unlocks after having started playing, in that sense it is the weakest character of all, although we are forced to level up because to get the next character.

  • Skill: Invoking a partner to help him in combat.

Yoo-na

This is the second character we unlock, as we can see, the game is not limited to the male sex, we can find women in our characters and also in the campaign mode. In general, this character is unlocked very easily, since will have to fulfill a pair of missions with John D, without even advancing to the next global map.

  • Skill: Call the battlefield to a bomber plane, which throws four series of bombs that help a lot to clean the map.

Dvornikov

Currently this is the last character that we can unlock and use, has characteristics points much higher than the other character, which is to be expected, since it is unlocked by overcoming a mission in the super difficult game mode. It really is extremely complicated to unlock this character, in fact, in the time that I have been playing I have not been able to unlock.

  • Skill: call a helicopter, which is capable of throwing many projectiles in one place at a time, it is usually very useful against bosses or high level tanks.

Primary weapon

The main weapon is our faithful ally in any field of play, because with its infinite bullets, we can spend the entire mission shooting without fear of spending the bullets, which makes things easier in missions where there are many rivals. According to my experiences, I recommend buying and improving these weapons before improving or buying others, because having the possibility to shoot without fear of spending bullets is a great advantage.

Special weapon

Special weapons are those that have more damage than the main weapons, since they are usually equipped only to damage tanks and bosses on the field of play, in this sense, it causes them much damage in a short period of time. Personally, I do not like to spend money on these weapons, since I usually solve everything with the primary weapon.

Body to Body

For the melee attacks we have pocket knives, they are really useful to eliminate the rivals that are right in front of us, in such a way that they do not get in the way, since some of them usually stab us. Personally, I recommend buying these weapons as soon as possible, since they are extremely useful, the disadvantage is that they are only bought with the money paid for the game, although it can also be achieved by fulfilling missions.

Grenades

The grenades are extremely useful against the rivals who are grouped, usually it is always easier to throw a grenade and prevent them from firing between several, also often very useful against the tanks. According to my experiences, I do not recommend spending grenades against bosses, because the damage we cause is extremely low, it is better to save them for another time.

After having played Metal Slug and several video games based on the series, I can say that I certainly find a lot of potential in Metal Squad, because it is a videogame that is constantly updated to improve the game experience by adding more content and game modes. Something I especially like is the way each weapon works, because not all have the same effect, there are even some that should have existed in Metal Slug.

There is nothing better in video games than constant updates and a good support system, because despite not having a multiplayer mode, some of us like to simply take the mobile device and start playing without many complications, simply start the game and start playing; there is no better way to relieve stress.

The game has an incredible balance in terms of graphics, sound and gameplay, all this in a fairly light application, since it does not consume much space in our mobile device. As for consumption, I think you can play on most mobile devices, since having light graphics and good quality, does not require a device with high resources to play; it only consumes a lot of battery.
