Unless The Lord Builds The House

God is our everything, the source of life, the sustainer of life and the reason for our living, without him we are nothing. I'm often surprise at people who do not acknowledge God in their life and think with just their strength they are good to go through the journey of life alone.

No one has made it and has had a successful end without God. God is the reason why we live and have our being and he must be acknowledged in all our ways.

A man that neglects God and has no relationship with God is just like the man who plan to travel but without a journey map leading to the right destination. It doesn't matter where a man's strength, knowledge and wisdom can take him, he will still amount to nothing if he fails to acknowledge God.

A story is told in Genesis about the people of the world who planned to build a tower that reaches the heaven just to make a name for themselves.

They were so united that nothing could have ever stopped them from achieving their goals yet they couldn't. They never involved God in their plan; it was just about their personal interest not just about giving God the glory.

They failed miserably and couldn't achieve their goals because they thought it not a good thing to involve the master builder, to them just the power of unity was enough for any great accomplishment.

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. Genesis 11:1-9

Indeed if God does not build the city, they that build it build in vain and if He doesn't watch the city they that watches, watches in vain. Things will begin to crumble in our life when we take God out of the scene and begin to run the show ourselves.

Marriages are failing these days because it is all about just fashion, pleasure and luxury with no time or little time with God before we hop in the marriage train.

Indiscipline is nowtnon the rise among children these days because it all about academic work with no time or just a little time dedicated for worship or the preaching of the God's word in many schools.

Diseases are now rampant and killing people these days becuase we have told God to step aside but rather embracing the things docters tell us.

God will just step aside if we tell him becuase he is too gentle and will not impose his will on his creation but we ain't going anywhere without him. We need God more than He needs us.

We should remember that many are the plans in a man's heart but it always the Lord's purpose that stands.
