The Swallows and the Gray Barn at Bayonet FarmsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

The swallows were flying all around me, some of them almost crashing into me.

I noticed that if you walk right into the barn and among the mud, straw, feathers, and poop that litter the barn's dirt floor, and stay still, they soon forget you are there and proceed to go about their business of catching insects and flitting in and out of the barn's three openings.

In this post, I'll walk you 360-degrees around this old barn and also wander through the open doors into the utility section that these swallows call home.

For these photos, I was fooling around with the HDR settings on my Sony RX100 V in which you can configure it to take 3 images in succession: one under-exposed (-3), one over-exposed (+3), and one composite image that aggregates the dynamics of the three images.

If you look carefully at some of the images, you'll be able to see some of the ghosted swallows due to their rapid movement that was occurring as the RX-100 attempted to capture its three images.

One down-side about multi-captures with HDR and/or continuous shooting mode is that it makes the job of editing the images in Lightroom a PITA. You have to spend too much time reviewing and deleting the unwanted images. But, as the saying goes, "you can't have your cake and eat it too!"

Great captures.

wow a great place and all photos are wonder full all around is natural beauty @congnoscere sir ur all photos are wonder full

That is quite a barn :) That's probably why those swallows (strange name for a bird) love it so much:) Thank you for sharing your story with nice illustrations. At first i thought thisnred tractor might be made by Lamborgini :)

It there was a lambo in that barn, the owner would likely be pretty upset with it being covered in swallow droppings 😱

Probably that would put all swallows in a great danger :) Or they might be sensible enough not to drop anything on a lambo lol

@cognoscere,

nice........ @sultan-aceh

Nice shots.

Great photography skills! Loved the post and seeing other photographers work! Upvoted and resteemed!

Thanks grizzlyadam4201!!!

I would love to work there. I'd probably sneak off and sit in the barn and watch the birds though. I saw some of the ghosting you mentioned. That was a neat effect. You must have a good camera because mine would only blur with fast movement.

I really like the portability and features of the Sony RX-100 V. Still learning about all it has to offer. I agree on the swallows, they are fascinating to watch up close!

Totally amazed by your photography skills , you really captured everything beautifully . Love them all, can't even say one of them is my favorite 👌🏽

It's a really cool barn and they also rent it out for weddings.

Would have loved to throw my baby shower there , looks great

Wonderful farm and amazing clicks so good to see these
