Teaching Fire Safety in the preschool
This week our theme is Fire Safety. With preschool students it is not just telling what to do you have to show them and practice fire safety with them. We can teach them to stop drop and roll by practicing with them. We can teach them what to do when the fire alarm goes off by practicing fire drills.
We can teach them about how and when to call 911 by using a play phone and when to call 911 by doing sernarios with the children.
We have arranged for the fire department to bring a fire truck to the school and have a tour of the fire truck and talking to the firemen.

The firemen will be telling the children about the fire engine and whats on it and what they are used for.
The ladder,hoses and the sirens.
The firemen will also being talk about the things they wear and the other things they use like the fire extinguisher, oxygen tanks and masks. Also how they should never play with matches or lighters.
So this week we will be doing alot of practicing and reinforcing what the firemen tell them during their visit.
For the food experience we will be making firetrucks with graham crackers and frosting.

Sounds like you have a busy week ahead! Sounds like you do some great things with the kids to teach fire safety. The fire truck tour sounds cool.
I like to teach them as much about our themes as possible and make it interesting for them.
