Drinking alcohol is becoming more and more common especially in western countries. In some countries, drinking alcohol in public is considered a serious crime and they penalize you for your actions. I won't argue if that's a good ruling or bad since it's not our topic. But have you ever considered how harmful alcohol can be for you?

Let me clear myself that I agree with some benefits of alcohol as it makes you feel relaxed and makes you forget all of your grief but let's be honest, their disadvantages are far more than advantages and I believe that it should be everyone's resolution to quit drinking alcohol.

You may not be convinced to quit alcohol yet because maybe you never paid attention to its disadvantages. Yes, if you are one of those lucky people who doesn't face trouble after drinking alcohol, then you may consider alcohol risk-free but in fact, it's not. If you were able to stay safe from its disadvantages, there's no guarantee that you'll be safe in the future too. You might be wondering what could be the disadvantages? Let's discuss some of them today.

# 1 - Your health is at risk:

It is not often discussed since most of us are addictive drinkers but let's face it, alcohol has a wide list of side effects on your health. By drinking alcohol, you're taking the risk of some dangerous heart disease and kidney failures. It can also lead you to Type 2 diabetes and make no mistake, it is not a curable disease and you'll never be able to enjoy sweetness again like you used to be.

According to the Cancer Research UK, 4% of the cancer patients are the victims of alcohol. According to them, 360,000 new cases of cancers are being recorded every year on average in the UK. Annie Grace revealed her study that men who drink at least three drinks in a day take the risk of dying by cancer and their risk of dying is 41%.

# 2 - Waste of money:

I was analyzing some statistics of alcohol drinkers which revealed that students spend around $5.5 billion every year on alcohol, much more than what they spend on soft drinks and tea etc. Imagine what could be done with this $5.5 billion? You could arrange the home for hundreds or thousands of homeless people!
I think it's better to enjoy the life than being drunk. Though it's your decision whether you reduce its consumption or quit it completely. If you're not a heavy drinker, I would suggest you get rid of drinking habit because small things lead to big things.

# 3 - Causes wrong decisions:

OK, you were drunk at a bar yesterday night and when you woke up in the morning, you found that there's someone with you on your bed. Now you are wondering that how she came to your bed because you don't remember anything.

And well, let me share my experience with a friend who used to drink a lot. One day, he emailed me about some personal things and started talking negatively. I didn't know that he's drunk, I thought that he's serious and we exchanged a lot of emails together. I was so heartbroken since I used to consider him my best friend but his talks broke my heart.

But next day, he came to me asking to forgive what he did last night and he told me that he was drunk! I had no other choice than accepting his apology since it was not his intentional mistake. So, the conclusion is, it leads to terrible experience. Not only your personal life is affected, but your social life is too.

Trust me, when you'll quit drinking alcohol, you'd start to realize that there are many things in life to do when you're not drunk.
