Ragtime Not To Be Played Fast (Proof From The King)

I know, we all do it. Any jazz/rag pianist likes to play ragtime 10 times faster than our teachers taught us to. It feels natural. However it has come to my attention that Scott Joplin "The King of Rag," who made ragtime very popular actually believed and emphasized that rag should be played slowly. Here is a video explaining that.
