Today we meet Sarpsborg 08. Have a look!

January 15, 2008 marks a brand new start in Sarpsborg football. Despite all the opposition and difficulties from the start of the collaborative project, the enthusiasm of the football family was so strong that one succeeded in establishing a new collaborative club in 2008.

Sarpsborg FK recalls the football club and the newly started club over the place from
FK Sparta Sarpsborg in 1st Division from the season 2008.

The name Sarpsborg 08 does not get the club until 2009 after having been through several name sheets on the way to unanimity.

Swedish Conny Karlsson leads the first season. In the new start of the club's first season in the first division, the scarves finish in 10th place with 37 points. The margin down to relegation was twelve points. A good start for Sarpsborg 08.

2009 started heavily. After using a player wrongly, Sarpsborg 08 was drawn three points. With economical clutter, almost contraband and trainer departure to Conny Karlsson, many skeptics thought that a new collaboration attempt would make the wrong turn, but they should be wrong.

In 2010, Sarpsborg 08 remained in the first division after the qualifying finals against Kongsvinger last year ended with losses. In the first match of the season, FFK was in the opposite half. The first series settlement between the two football cities for several years ended with a crushing 3-0 victory to Sarpsborg 08.

The season ended with a supreme promotion after the crushing 4-0 win against Alta in the final series round at the Stadium. Sarpsborg was back in the best-known company from 2011 - 37 years after SFK retired from the elite series in 1974. The football city had woken again.

The 2011 season was the first season in the elite series for Sarpsborg 08's part. After a fresh start with 3-0 victory over Molde in the first series round.

"Fort Sarpsborg", where the team lost only one match in 2010, will be kept up with four straight home victories in the opening of the season.

Then it would be heavy. Very heavy. Sarpsborg 08 goes the rest of the season without winning a single match before Odd visits the final series round. Here is victory and the entrance to the 2012 season gives hope for new optimism.

This was a good reason. The 2012 season was a turn down to turn. The six-stroke victory races enter the club's longest. From not winning a single away game in 2011, Sarpsborg 08 suddenly appears as a bottom solder. The club also puts here a new record with 11-1-3 on foreign grass, the series’s best-selling finish. We must return to Molde in 2007 to find similar results. With 19-6-5 in total, Sarpsborg 08 raises up with Start. The closest challenger is Sandefjord, which ends with 55 points

2013 appeared to be a new season with relegation. The Sarpings lost eight games in a row - the longest line in the club's short story. Good signatures in Steffen Ernemann, Derek Decamps and Aaron Samuel in the summer turned a bad trend.

The home game against Haugesund in the 22nd series was a turning point. Aaron Samuel enjoys a good drive through the entire Haugesund defense before he thunder the ball into the goal of the audience. After this match, there were eight series matches, where Sarpsborg 08 managed to pick eleven series points.
This was enough to be able to end up in a qualifying place in front of Hønefoss and Tromsø. Here Ranheim waited. S08 won 1-0 home and 2-0 away.
New elite series contract under new coach (Brian Deane) was a fact. 2014 and 2015 were both for two years on a safe basis.

In 2014, 40 points scored team number eight, while 34 points held to 11th place in the 2015 season.

The 2015 season is remembered for something completely different. The cup final. Under the direction of Geir Bakke, the sharpening is a very weak cup lag to be the country's best. Through tough fights in the autumn of 2015, the sharpening passes past obstacles such as Gjøvik-Lyn, Odd and Brann in Bergen.

The semifinal in Stavanger was dramatic. Extra runs needed to separate the two teams. Patrick Mortensen rose and sent all of Sarpsborg to heaven's and cities first cup final since SFK's final victory against Rosenborg in 1964.

The Cup final itself was a slight downturn. Rosenborg turned out to be the better team and won deserved 2-0, but the Vorspielet in Oslo was fantastic. Festive sarpings dyed Oslo blue and white. A great weekend.
In the 2015 season in the series context was a slight downturn, 2016 would be a powerful revamp. Sarpsborg 08 fought the season for both medals and a place in Europe. And it was strong, especially in view of the fact that the team did not score before round five and first took the season's first three points in round six.

The season ended with the exit in the quarterfinals of the cup and a brilliant 6th place. 45 points won a solid jump from the previous 40-point grand prize draw in 2014. With victory in the 2-2 match against Tromsø in the second last series round, the blue whites would secure fourth place and opportunity for betting in Europe.
