United States will allow refugees again
After a complete 'refugee stop' of 120 days, the United States is now allowing refugees again. However, refugees are subject to an additional strict screening procedure. That has been decided by US President Donald Trump.
There are reports of 11 countries with an "increased safety risk". People from those countries are being examined extensively for 90 days. Which countries is not yet shared.
In the last three months, the country did not allow refugees from any country in the world. This was part of Trump's entry ban. This policy also meant that people from certain, mostly Islamic countries temporarily failed to enter the country. Several US courts have blocked different versions of the ban.
Wall
Trump is anti-immigration. He promised during the elections to build a wall between the United States and Mexico in order to counteract the influx of Mexican (illegal) immigrants. So far, there are no concrete plans to actually build the wall.
