NGC

The Needle Galaxy (NGC 4565) is an edge-on spiral galaxy about 30 to 50 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. It is known as the Needle Galaxy for its narrow profile. First recorded in 1785 by William Herschel, it is a prominent example of an edge-on spiral galaxy. (dixit Wikipedia)

This photo was taken from my garden with a scope (Newtonian 200/1000), my old mount (EQ6) and a CCD camera (Atik One 6.0), in black and white with R,G,B and L filters, for a total of 4 hours exposure in April 2015.

Do you have details on how to mount a telescope with a camera? I would be happy to make something similar for my son.

I've some photos on my website (but in french sorry) http://psaltery.org/wordpress/materiel/.

I plan to do some post on steemit on tutorial and how to. But by waiting i can help you on your specific questions. What do you need? What do you want to do with a scope? Do you have some stuff yet ? What is your budget if not?

It is more for my son who receives a small telescope for his birthday. We are very non experts in that domain, and it is more for the fun of having him taking pictures of what I will look at during the next summer. So the totally amateur level!

After reading your website (French is my mother tongue; are you living on the Chevreuse valley region?), the material we have is much cheaper than the one you show and we probably will not be able to do anything so good. I however do not want to invest as I first want to be sure my son will like it ^^

Yes i live in the Chevreuse valley region.
Making astrophotography of deep sky is expensive, as you need at least a EQ mount. But what is simpler is to take photo of solar system objets: moon, jupiter, saturne and venus are simple.
You don't need to have an EQMont, just juste a planteray cam around 200€ (look ASI cam) and your scope, and you will be able make your first photos like the planetary ones i did.

Maybe one day I will afford the cheap stuff to start with. We will probably just use the scope + our eyes this summer (my son is 6). I am actually living very close to your place, in Eure et Loir ^^

In this you know how to ask if you need help :-)

Thanks for the kind offer!

In this field?

Im totally joking. I thought the article was interesting, I just didn't have anything constructive to say...so I went with a joke to add a tiny bit of value to your post!
