Not yet full Moon
The Moon is the only natural satellite of the earth, and one of the larger satellite of the solar system. The average distance from Earth is 284 000 km. The Moon was formed 4.52 billion years ago from the debris left over after a giant impact between Earth and a Mars-sized body called Theia. As the orbit of the Moon around Earth is synchronous with its own rotation, we only see always the same side of the Moon.
This photo is a mosaic of about 10 images taken with my scope (Newtonian 200/1000), my old mount (EQ6), and a planetary cam (QHYCCD 5LII) in 2015

I hope you enjoyed it! If it is the case, resteem and follow me to see more astrophotography
Some details of the mosaic:

It's cool how stars can be seen right through the moon during waxing and waning phases. We the free thinkers have much to study today and much to forget about current science. Agree?
I would love to see this phenomenon. Could you point the way?
Interesting and very strange. Iv never seen the stars through the moon by sight, which confuses me as I can see stars by sight. I have to admit Im dubious of this.
you can only see a few stars with your eyes the millions of others are just to small until zoomed
Yeah, very true, but there are still no shortage of stars I actually can see with my eyes, even if thats a very small portion available in the night sky. Can we see this with the naked eye?
no seems that a fair bit of zoom is needed
I will certainly check this phenomenon out myself. Do you know roughly how much zoom? My son has a cool wee optical telescope. Not sure the magnification (Id need to find it in the mess of his room) but it might do.
It is within a moon eclipse.
I've made such photos and video. I will post them in a near future.
I look forward to seeing that :)
Yes that is the way science advance:)
