Dumbbell Nebula (M27)
The Dumbbell Nebula (also known as Apple Core Nebula, or M 27) is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula, at a distance of about 1,360 light-years. This object was the first planetary nebula to be discovered; by Charles Messier in 1764. This nebula is 14.600year old, created from explosion of a medium size star. At the center of the nebula, there is one of the larger white dwarf star we know. (dixit Wikipedia)
This photo was taken from my garden with a scope (Newtonian 200/1000), my old mount (EQ6) and a CCD camera (Atik One 6.0), in black and white with R,G,B and L filters, for a total of 3.5 hours exposure in June 2015.

I hope you enjoyed it! If it is the case, resteem and follow me to see more astrophotography.

Lovely image. I'd love to get myself the necessary equipment to do this eventually. How much do you think I'd need to spend to get similar results?
It depends. Do you want to take photos from deep sky or object of the solar system?
Ideally... both :)
It will start at about 1000usd for a scope (newton 150 or 200mm) and mount ( eq5 or eq6)
How important would you say the DSLR was on top of that? I've got an old Canon EOS 350D, but it has no live view. Not sure how important that is, or whether or not I'd need to get myself something more modern.
Just noticed we posted new posts at almost the exact same time! Just posted my ISS animation, if you're interested in checking it out :)
i will check :)
