Relentless pursuit of Purpose

in #inspiration7 years ago

A yellow Labrador Retriver name Daisy gave me the opportunity to think about commitment to purpose. I watched Daisy living out what she must have known was her life purpose and doing the work that she was born to do. Slough Daisy's work ( retrieving a stick, preferably from the lake) required human assistance, she did not beg anyone to throw the stick. She allowed anyone who would to throw the stick. She would immediately bring it back, acting like she was not aware of who had thrown it.
Then, she would drop it on the ground near a group. When someone picked it up, Daisy would focus her attention on the stick with what could only be described as sheer joy. Her excitement was contagious. Over and over again she tirelessly repeated the actions throughout the day. When it seemed that there were no assistants line up, Daisy would walk through the crowd dripping water, looking around as if to say, " I cannot believe that no one is running out here to throw this stick into the water."
As on as some one threw any stick into the water, Daisy would go get it. Daisy was an excellent reminder to me :

  1. To know and pursue my own life purpose,
  2. That Burnout is less likely when I am having fun "working" at my life purpose.
  3. That excitement and enthusiasm are contagious.
