Make Steemit More Accessible (Short Suggestion)

in #steemit10 years ago

Currently, accessing to a tag is very inconvenient and not intuitive. We need to put some long words, such as "trending" or "created", in front of a tag we want to read. This makes people to just type "steemit.com", which results in a highly concentrated exposure of trending posts in the main page.

Alternatively, we can re-frame the URLs into simpler and intuitive ones, and let people access to each topic directly without hassle. My suggestion is tag.steemit.com

For instance, photography.steemit.com leads us to photography tag(default sorting can be trending).

I hope this will promote sub-communities (can be called Streams or Stems, whatever), and alleviate uneven exposure of posts.

Or following subreddits can be called substeemits! =D

good idea @clayop i support that!

This is a good idea. When I first join in on the page it is always the trending posts that I may not be interested in. Your suggestion would let us see what is trending on what we want to see.

Creative thinking. Full support. UPVOTED.

Still in beta, everything will probably change in a month or two.

I think this is a great idea.

Subdomains are based for SEO. Subfolders address what Google recognises as being part of the same root.

Steemit.com/tag/

Not tag.steemit.com

How about keeping the original urls and just adding links for each tag?

The tags work well except for the fact that they're misused and people don't use common terminology for niche subjects.

We need proper subs.

Well, there are links on the list on the right that direct you to /active/tag

I don't think most people use the URLs directly though.

That sounds a great idea!

I think that this number of subdomains is not very good. Especially tags may be several thousand.
