Happy Sunday Steemians

I was off for quite a few days due to health issues, but here we are again, fresh and fruity!

Let's start directly with good news: Yesterday our new temporary friend arrived!!

A bit of background:

Wafel (this was the name of the dog but we've changed it to Memphis) was brought to a veterinarian buy it's 'owner' as he had health issues. From the moment they arrived, they could see that he was heavily underfed, his ribs were showing and there were marks of abuse. Also, Memphis had an ear infection and other issues with his left ear. The veterinarian decided to seize the dog immediately with help of police and a dog foundation.

As we're cooperating with them, they've asked us if we would be able to take him in for a couple of weeks to get back on strength and of course, this wasn't a problem at all.

Memphis is a very social dog, loves to hug and was very happy being with us. On our first walk together with our other two dogs, I've decided to make him loose. I think he wasn't even an hour with us, but, somehow he gave this feeling being very loyal to people with good intentions. And yes, he was doing great!! Actually, we didn't even need to use the leash again as he was just staying next to us, without any intention to walk away or whatever.

Of course, he needed to get used to our place, but this took only a half day. He is now very confident, happy, jumping on the sofa/bed (as we allow this) and found his place inside our home.

The only thing he didn't like was going to bath. He is very scared of water, this scared that his heart rate went 10x faster, he cried and really couldn't sit still. So, to give him the trust that it wouldn't harm, I decided to sit in the bath together, and this was really a way to make it work. I was sitting in the bath and Memphis went to lay on my legs, from this point, my girlfriend was able to wash him without any issues and he trusted the situation.

Memphis is a beautiful dog and now it's our task finding a good family for him. Luckily we are the persons now who will decide where he will go, so whenever we have doubts, Memphis will stay with us as long as needed to just find a perfect home... But, we don't think it will take long finding a new home for him as it's a wonderful dog, loyal, social and a great best friend!!

My dog Ringo had the same issue when he got his first bath as an adult dog. He would try to jump out and was scared to death. Now he is still a little scared and stands on his nails (instead of paws) when he is in the shower 😂😂😂, but because he trusts us he endures.

hehe, yes, it really depends on the dog. Our other dogs don't mind being washed, they just lay and relax until it's over XD

Great post. Here we have 2 dogs that are not liking water.

Good luck with washing them then, haha. I just went to the forest with all 3 of them, seems they like to roll in horse shit. So, they went in bath again XD

They are not. The big one stays outside goes perfect. The little one once or twice a year.

There are an estimated 400 million dogs in the world.

So at least we were able to save 1 of those :) :)
