COUPLE'S LOVE YOUR SPOUSES

in #steemchurch8 years ago

I am not yet married, but i have always been in love with this Story. A man decided to divorce his wife, after so many years of marriage. When he was asked by his counselor the reason behind his decision, he said 'She is overweight, she's a poor house keeper, she's not attractive, she's not interesting. After he had told the counselor this, the counselor's response was 'Starting today, I want you to go home and treat your wife like a goddess. Start doing everything in your power to please her. Listen intently when she talks about her problems. Help her around the house, and take her out to dinner at the weekend. I want you to literally pretend that she's a goddess. Then after two months of this wonderful new behaviour, pack your bags and leave. That should get her attention!'.

The man agreed that it was a great idea, he then decided to implement it. He read poetry to his wife every night and took her away on romantic weekends.
After two months, the counselor called to ask the man 'Did you file for divorce?' Are you looking forward to being a bachelor again? The man replied 'Are you kidding me? I'm married to a goddess. I've never been happier in my life. I'd never leave my wife in a million years. He added 'Infact, I am discovering new, wonderful things about her each day that passes. Divorce? Not on your life.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (Ephesians 5:24-25 AKJV)

When this man actually changed his strategy and started sowing seeds of love, he reaped a marriage he never dreamed would be possible. Why not give this same strategy a try in your marriage? It will possibly work for you as chances are, you and your spouse will love the outcome. The Bible says:-

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.(Galatians 6:7 AKJV)

It is always colourful when couples are at peace with each other. It also gives them inner happiness.

Paul saw the condition of many marriages in his time. That's why he tells husbands to love their wives and wives to respect their husbands.

Love isn't always a warm, fuzzy feeling. The excitement of early love only lasts 6 months to 2 years. After that there should have been something built that's much deeper. At times love is a decision to be loving and kind when you don't feel like it or when the person isn't exactly loving and kind. But Christ calls us to love sacrificially.

I concur. True talk. Thanks for stopping by @barncat

I love the fact that you considered the bible in backing up you points. I am blessed by these few line.

I believe we all love that woman or man for a reason and that's what made us say YES to them so we should continue to show that love we all started with and also help each other grow.
