One morning before school, I decided to put on my old pair of Adidas sneakers but I encountered a problem as one of the tips of the laces had frayed and could not be inserted into the eyelets of the shoe.

I asked for help from my brother over the phone and I described the part of the lace but I discovered I did not know the name of it or if it even had one. Therefore, I did intensive research on the internet to know the name of this part, and here are the results.

It is called an aglet. What is the purpose of an aglet one may ask? It is made to hold the fibers of a shoelace together to prevent them from separating. They also ensure the easy penetration of the shoelace into the eyelet of the shoe.
Aglets have been made of various materials through previous years and nowadays materials such as metal, stone, glass, and plastics have been used. Metal such as bronze and brass were used by the kings of the old but nowadays plastics are used since they are a cheaper option.

The modern aglet was said to be made by a man called Harvey Kennedy and he earned 2.5 million dollars of its creation.
However, now aglets are being made by different companies, one noted as Onlife who now earns the most from it.
