ColorChallenge Friday : Landscape Blue and Beautiful Sky Photography - South East Nigeria
I had reasons to travel to my hometown today. It was a very sunny day. I drove three and a half hours from the town where I live to the village.
The sky was almost free of clouds because of the intense sun shining down to earth at temperatures ranging from 30 degrees to 35 degrees centigrade.
In my village, you will get to see some of the oldest trees in the country. These trees are not just trees. They are seen as habitats for designated deities and most of them are said to be up to 500 years. Below is one of such trees
The next tree I'm about to show you is an iboko tree located at the highest point of elevation in the village. It can be seen towering above everything else and seems to be touching the sky. It is believed to be housing a deity that is responsible for death. As a result, birds do not perch on it. If an unfortunate bird perches on it, it dies and falls. The branch never dries and falls off by accident. Each time it does, the oldest man in the family that serves the deity must die. There is no recourse to this.
I have no idea how to explain these incidents but they really do happen.
This is an entry into the #clouds contest by @xpilar. I hope you enjoyed the post. All pictures were taken with my Xaiomi Redmi note 3
Some things just happen in Africa that are unexplainable. For these trees to have existed for such a long time, maybe the stories about them might be true after all.
Nice post @churchboy!
Thank you @sunnyebinum. Yes some things beat reasonable explanation. You're awesome.
You're welcome Boss!
I just enjoy reading your posts about the Nigerian culture. Keep steeming...
