Breaking My Coffee Addiction

in #coffee6 years ago

I’m addicted to coffee and there is nothing wrong with that. Anyone who has not gone for a period of more than 16 hours without it for a few years is also addicted to it. Think not? Abstain from caffeinated products beyond 16 hours and you start getting a headache that painkillers have little effect on. At least that has been my experience.

Why bother with breaking the habit? It doesn’t hurt anything that we know about at this time and there are several well known health benefits that make our having an addiction to the tasty substance absolutely delightful. For one reason, I use fasting to manage my weight and once in a while I like to do an extended water-only fast. Coffee makes me hungry for carbohydrates. You too? There are also some medical tests that can be skewed by caffeine.

I have broken my addiction to coffee several times and I have found a way to do it without the pain of withdrawal headaches. I simply get up in the morning and have my usual couple of cups, but stop drinking it at 9 am. Then, that night while I sleep, I have the withdrawal headache. The only time I know I’m going through withdrawal is if I get up before my normal 5 am get up time. Then at 5 when I get up I feel great because my withdrawal is over. Works every time.

Haha! That's a clever way to trick your body... I find substituting coffee with Yerba Matte, or drinking lots and lots of water works great. I'm also lucky not to get the withdrawal headaches very often... Speaking of skewing medical tests, did you know that portobello mushrooms can fool lie detector machines??

No I didn't. If I'm ever faced with having to take a polygraph test I shall keep that in mind.

I like to read articles that promote the positive benefits of drinking coffee. There have been a few times in my life where I tried to make the switch to green tea and then anykind of tea but I always go back to coffee. If I ever need to go without coffee for a while I will surely try your new method. Thanks for sharing. I have to go now its time for my second cup.

Why give up coffee for tea? I choose to drink coffee, black and green tea, sparkling water, beer, and water to round out about 95% of my liquid intake. Thank you for the steemit well wishes in your other post to one of my posts! Take care, sir!
