New Oil Landscapes of Colorful Colorado, Plus Photos + Contest

in #travel6 years ago

In late October while visiting Colorado, not only did I paint outdoors several times, but I also took hundreds of photographs to bring back into my studio. These six 8"x10" landscapes are scenes from the hike with @connieluebbert to Emerald Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park where I snapped a large majority of my references. You may have seen a couple already in previous posts.

This hike has four lakes nestled in the mountains and many scenic views along the way. It was difficult to choose which photos to paint, but in the end I attempted recreating the ones that presented a challenge in painting light.

Here's what I came up with!

I have so many more saved for when I feel like revisiting too! :) Here are some more of my favorites and likely soon-to-be paintings:

Which painting is your favorite? Is there a photo you'd like to see me paint? By the way, there's still time to share your landscape photos with me so I can possibly paint one! See details here. Thanks for the entries, guys!

Thanks for looking!

While looking at each painting i kept thinking - " How could this be real?"
How could one be so good at this art?
Is this real or done with computer?
After all these questions i could not resist but visit your website. After visiting the website the only thing i can say is "WOW".

That is so nice of you! Seriously gave me the warm fuzzies. Thank you, I've put a lot of effort in pushing my work to be better for a while now!

I visited Colorado for the first time this past June and was amazed by the natural beauty I photographed while I was there. I might physically be in Pennsylvania right now, but your paintings take me back to Colorado in my mind, for sure! I love the painting with the sun peeking out from behind the mountain! I'm going to take a look through some of my favorite landscape shots that I've taken and see what I can send your way for painting consideration. Seeing a photo I've taken be turned into a painting would be an incredible honor! Upvoted and followed, as I'm a bit in love with your work! :)

Isn't just amazing? I kept gasping and saying "so pretty" and "wow." What part did you visit? I'm glad my paintings could take you back! I'd love to see some of your photographs! Tomorrow is the deadline for the current contest but I'm sure I'll be doing more of these types of things in the future too :)
