My first gig paid as an actor in Hollywood - Music video with Bon Jovi

When I moved to Hollywood in 2010 I was expecting to have some luck and work on some interesting projects. So, during my first weeks, I used to submit myself to work in small projects. I saw one day a post about a Music video with Bon Jovi: they needed background actors to portray photographers in a fictional red carpet. So, of course I submitted myself and few days after they called me saying that they wanted me for the shooting.

I was so excited because Bon Jovi has always been my favorite music band, and there I was in Hollywood, about to shoot a music video for them. My surprise was when I got to the set and I saw that the whole band was there. And I even became more excited when I got the chance to meet them personally and chat a little bit with them. They were really nice, professional and humble. I was meeting in person and working next to my favorite band, the first band I ever saw live in concert, when I was only 14 years old. Sometimes dreams come true. It’s hard to describe what I felt but it was so much happiness.

It wasn’t about my acting career, since I appeared only 1-2 seconds, and it’s hard to recognize me (I’m the photographer wearing a grey suit, in the left side of the image), it was about the experience and the feelings working next to my favorite band. I also was chatting for a long time with Wes Bentley (American Beauty) who was one of the stars of the music video next to Scottie Thompson (Star Trek). And that was also a really nice encounter. After that day I thought that anything was possible.

Cuando me mudé a Hollywood en 2010 esperaba tener algo de suerte y trabajar en algunos proyectos interesantes. Así que, durante mis primeras semanas, solía enviar mi CV para trabajar en pequeños proyectos de cine o televisión. Vi un día un post sobre un video musical con Bon Jovi: necesitaban extras para interpretar fotógrafos en una alfombra roja. Así que, por supuesto envié mis datos y pocos días después me llamaron diciendo que me querían para el rodaje.

Estaba muy emocionado porque Bon Jovi siempre ha sido mi banda de música favorita, y ahí estaba yo en Hollywood, a punto de grabar un video musical para ellos. Mi sorpresa fue cuando llegué al set y vi que toda la banda estaba allí. Me emocioné todavía más cuando tuve la oportunidad de conocerlos personalmente y charlar un poco con ellos. Eran realmente agradables, profesionales y humildes. Estaba conociendo y trabajando junto a mi banda favorita, la primera banda que vi en concierto, cuando tenía sólo 14 años. Y es que, a veces, los sueños se hacen realidad. Es difícil describir lo que sentí, pero estaba feliz y orgulloso de estar ahí.

No se trataba de mi carrera como actor, ya que aparecí sólo 1-2 segundos en el video, y es difícil reconocerme (soy el fotógrafo que lleva un traje gris, en el lado izquierdo de la imagen), se trataba de la experiencia y de los sentimientos que tenía al estar trabajando junto a mi banda favorita. También estuve charlando en el set durante un buen rato con Wes Bentley (American Beauty) que fue una de las estrellas del video musical junto a Scottie Thompson (Star Trek). Y ese también fue un encuentro muy agradable. Después de ese día pensé que todo era posible.
