GOD WILL GIVE YOU UNDERSTANDING
BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 3: 6-9
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

Give me understanding, and I shall keep your law; yes, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

THE MESSAGE
Only God is the source of understanding and no one else. Too often we automatically look to other means like the pastor, university professor or other elites and books to give us understanding. God can use people, things and circumstances as channels, but He is the source. You can't conjure it within you. The Psalmist says, I am your servant so I need understanding to know your testimonies. Receive understanding as one serving God. Those who feel they are knowledgeable due to their education will likely miss getting divine understanding at crucial moments.

Understanding simplifies your service to God and you will enjoy deliverances on two levels. Firstly, God will take you out of trouble in case you are in trouble and secondly He will prevent trouble from happening. Don't pride yourself for understanding God and His word especially when people admire you, it is a gift from God. Understanding is not something we get once and for all in life. We need to actively retain and build it up. Seek understanding by reading and meditating on God’s word and praying for it.

Heavenly Father, give me understanding so that I can please You in all of my ways in Jesus name!
