The first thing that you should do if you are feeling lonely is to start hanging out with other people. Go out with friends, family members, and neighbors. These are going to be people that you already know so it's easier for you to make friends with them. If you don't know anyone that lives near you, then maybe you can go on a bike ride or see if there are any bikers in the area. Riding a bicycle will help get rid of some of that loneliness.
Make sure that you are talking to everyone you meet. The more people that you can talk to, the more likely you are to meet someone new. This also helps to make sure that they like you and that you like them as well. If you don't feel like talking to someone, then go up and give them a quick hello.

If you still end up being alone, at least you will have a support group to go to when you need it. Being alone can be hard, especially when you feel as though there is no hope for change.
