Steemit Engagement Challenge S8-W5 | My Parents, My Heroes
Hi, I welcome everyone to my blog today. I am here again to make my second contribution for the week. For today, I will participate in talking about family, parenting/Parenthood, and all that it encompasses.
No matter the stage we see ourselves now, we all passed through the same parenting but all that would be different may be the style in which we were raised. Therefore, this would launch me into the topic for the day.

In your words explain what you understand by parenthood
In simple terms, anytime we hear parenting or parenthood, it connotes a stage of training, strategy, or methodology imbibed in raising and guiding those under our care. Parenting or parenthood cannot be complete if there are no available children in the picture. Children in this case may not necessarily be through biological means but maybe through adoption or live-in of other young relatives.
The methodology that we used in training these ones under our care from small until they become adults and assume the same responsibility for other people is known as parenthood. However, the act of parenting does not even stop us even as adults, we still seek the advice of our aged parents from time to time.
Parenthood comes with varying kinds of responsibilities to make it complete. We can not talk about parenthood without various degrees of tasks done by a parent to a child. Some of which include schooling, moral lessons, sheltering, clothing, etc.
Tell us about your heroes (Parents)(for example what you usually do together, their importance to you)
They are numerous to mention. My parents were my every day to day life. They represent all we do and partook in most of our daily activities.
What can I mention without their input into them? Sometimes they play a major role than we do. They are indeed role models for my siblings and me.
My mother was into a business and some other businesses which were majorly our source of upkeep and livelihood. My father was also in the picture but largely responsible. For handling bigger projects in the home. I loved how they managed the home.
We the siblings helped our mom in every aspect of this business. We support with our presence, duties, and all a sundry to make it work. It succeeded but things took a swing when we had to relocate from this area due to the rising cases of insecurity and terrorism activities.
I can remember those times I was having a phobia of attending school, and she encouraged me and pacified me towards having the zeal to forge ahead. What about all we needed to use as women, she was timely, and also knowledgeable on how and when to provide them.
What are the major roles of parents to you?
Parents have several roles they play in the home which help to sustain a living and give life to everyone under the roof. They are unique beings and role models we look up to each time and this entails that they are supposedly exemplary.
One of the most important of their role is the moral lessons and discipline they imbibe in us. These are virtues that live longer in us even when they are long gone. We hold their great appreciation for this. The chores we do, courtesies, responsibility in handling tasks, and so on are some of the virtues taught.
Educating us and giving us the necessary exposure needed in our present society was another great fit. Not every present was able to carry on with this task but I must say I am grateful to my parents who despite the difficult times were able to push us through the storm.
Lastly, the opportunity to be fed and provided for in a shelter was another basic role I derived from my awesome parents. Many did not receive this just the way we did. I must be grateful for this role from parent to child benefit.
Do you see Parenthood as a Scam?
Parenthood isn't any scam but rather a role filled with responsibility, teachings, and guidance. It is a purposeful way of leading people guided into their destiny or future.
Parenthood can only be a scam to unprepared minds and immature parents. Because of their limitations and inadequacies, it is now termed a scam. We all know that life is filled with ups and down and this does not remove the fact that we should also thrive to fulfill our roles as parents.
Some of the basic roles of parenthood like imbibing good morals, living up to responsibilities and expectations, provision of shelter, feeding, and education are basic things we must have received when we were parented. Therefore, giving the same or more of these basic roles should not be seen as a scam.
Conclusively, we have to know that parenthood cannot be quantified and however should not be overemphasized given its numerous benefits. It is one of the acts of kindness from parents to children. Just like our holy bible says, train up a child in the ways of the lord so that he grows he won't depart from it. Training children in a way that is best before man and God is parenthood.
This is my humble entry for this contest.
Our parents are indeed our role models and Heroes. They stood on the gap for us, provided us all the required roles to advance...
