Baking is a cooking method where an oven is used under dry heat in an enclosed space. This cooking involves combining and mixing ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, liquids, fats, yeast, baking powder, banking soda, flavours, eggs and lots of other wet and dry ingredients to get delicious final results Such as bread, meat pie, cakes, muffins and cookies. In baking, there are many opportunities for creativity.
There are various types of baking which suit different products and persons in baking which include:
kneading
This method helps develop compounds in the dough to bake well. The dough is prepared by pushing and pulling the ingredients together with your hands. Kneading improves dough texture and makes it easier to shape
Muffin
Muffin is a method that requires mixing the wet and dry ingredients differently after which you merge both together at once and mix until fully combined.
Folding
This is another method of baking where light, airy ingredients like beaten egg white are gently combined with a heavier one like cake mix; in other words, the mixing of two ingredients with different weights to maintain the lightness and structure of the mixture. With this method, you produce a fluffy and light product.
Yes, I have baked, and my best method of baking is muffin as it just requires combining sugar, liquids, egg and melted fat all at once. Add the dry ingredients and mix well until it's fully combined. The muffin method suits pancakes and loaf breads.
Benefits of baked food
Baked foods are low in fat and healthier when compared to fried foods that absorb fat from oil with low nutrients.
Whole-grain baked food is rich in fibre and helps in digestion and gut health.
Healthy, freshly baked food boosts your mood and gives u a satisfying feeling.
Some baked foods contain nuts, seeds and fruits that are nutritional providing vital minerals and vitamin
Consuming too much baked food can also have Side effects on the human body which include:
Weight gain due to low fibre in refined carbs, eating a lot of baked food can cause weight gain, which is not good for health.
Spike blood sugar level is another side effect. This is because lots of commercial baked foods use refined sugar.
Digestive issues like bloating, gas and stomach upset are experienced by some people when they eat baked food.
Some of the ingredients used in baked foods trigger allergic reactions in certain people
