WHY STEEMIT INC Needs Steemit More than Steem
The moment has finally arrived where social media users have more leverage than the teams running them. This is an absolutely historic moment in our history because now we literally can BE the change WE want so bad. We don't have to rely on shadowy figures or founders to run these platforms anymore.
It's our turn.
The whole point of a decentralized network is to be decentralized. That may sound too simple but that is the point. So if Steemit is supposed to be a decentralized social media network why do they have a vast amount of power in the hands of a small group of thirty shadowy characters handling the operations.
That isn't decentralized, that's a POWER COUP.
So if Steemit's founders goals were to make Steemit a platform completely decentralized they failed immensely. I can see that and my time on Steemit is short compared to others.
This leads me to my point on why Steemit Inc needs Steemit more than Steem.
Sorry everyone, the cryptocurrency is commoditized. For 95% of the public, cryptocurrency is cryptocurrency they buy and use what everyone tells them to buy and sell. Hence the fast rise in the popularity of Ethereum. Without Steemit as a platform, STEEM's chances of surviving as a viability currency decreases substantially.
Literally, Steemit Inc could replace SBD on Steemit with an equal exchange of Ethereum and us users wouldn't notice or care a bit.
For the majority of Steemians, we are on Steemit NOT because we love Steem; it's because we love Steemit.
So as more and more users notice the unfair justice and system the current Steemit Inc has in place, the universe will turn its focus to support another platform whose message is truly decentralized.
It is not that hard for anyone on this platform to literally partner with someone in their network like a Peter Thiel (major VC and Paypal founder)or a Gary Vee (who is looking to build out a new content platform) or an organization like the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance who is about to fund a start-up accelerator **to build a direct clone of Steemit. **
Steemit Inc you proved the business concept of block-chain based social media, but you do not own the business concept.
I wouldn't let the power go to your head and check your egos at the door. Having an ego will lead to failure. It always does.
There will be a functioning decentralized social media platform in the future, whether or not its currency is STEEM is entirely based on what Steemit Inc does now.
I wish you the best Steemit Inc on fixing this platform before all 6,600 of us active users go to a clone platform that actually fulfills the message we want to be apart of.

O yeah me too buddy its an epic platform.
It is just supposed to serve a purpose for the universe so we will see if they fulfill it or get caught in a power grab.
Right we are coming to a roadcross with us steemians to decide where future is heading for us. Steemit will not be the last platform of it's kind but it can be the best.

The point about Steem needing Steemit is very valid, but the real power of the site is in the Steemonians like you said. If the price of Steem drops heavily, more people will drop out. If it picks up, then more will come. I do think that after this new batch of newbies like me and you gain momentum and move up the ranks, the power structure will shift because there will be so many "whales". This is a great site, and I hope it doesn't go away anytime soon, but it takes time to build a social platform and to get people to engage. It's not easy. Steemit has survived over a year and only now is really starting to grow. It will be interesting watching it all unfold. Great thoughts and thought provoking ideas. I appreciate your post.
Thank you buddy for you attention. Heck yeah you touched on a lot of great points. We just have to ride it out until hopefully we can get rid of that term "whale." I hate that we have labels in here just like in the world. And absolutely it takes time and energy. I am excited to see if the universe blesses this platform.
When there are haves and have nots, then there will always be labels. I think the term will boaden over the next 3-5 months as there will be a lot of people in the big ass dolphin range.
But thats the purpose of a decentralized network to keep the power out of the hands of the few. That's what I am saying with this post Steemit has a chance to do the right thing. If not the universe will just have someone else make a direct clone of Steemit using Ethereum as currency and beat Steemit to mainstream.
I think the power is in the hands of a few because there were only a few on here to begin with. Once we grow, the lines will be blurred I think, and I hope we grow in that direction. I'm sure somebody is building something with Ethereum, but getting a social media to go mainstream is tough as hell. I think Steemit has a great chance. I don't know much about the power structure, but I know that anyone that puts in the work and has a little skill can make money and don't really need too many of the "powerful" to do it. Especially as this batch of good minnows grows up together.
Team work makes the dream work ya dig. Only time will tell buddy :)
The one good thing Steemit has is a head start and 6,600 active users going hard.
I've seen a couple people only resteem and make money, but I don't know. I'm interested to find out. Steemit does have good start, and if they get up to 50K active by the end of the year, things could get serious.
O yeah you only make money from resteeming if thats your main strategy here on Steemit. They focus their efforts solely on finding the big authors and upvoting and resteeming their content asap.
