iCONFESS: ARE YOU GIVING HELP OR TRADING IT?

in #iconfess8 years ago

Recently, I was having a conversation with a man who was one of my role models growing up. I respected him so much that, while I was in primary school and we were asked what we wanted to be when we grew up; people would say they wanted to be lawyers, doctors and the likes, but not me. I wanted to be like him. His achievements were mind blowing.

As we got deep into the conversation he talked about his success and how asides the hard work he puts into all he does, it was God's favour that opened all the doors for him and gave him divine ideas because he was the least qualified for many of the things he got.

Then I noted to him, some things I heard he gave and did for people and how nobody I know has been able to match him. He on the other hand talked about some other things I didn't know about and this is the direction I'd like you think about today.

He said at some point some challenges came that hit him so hard that he is yet to recover from them and not one person he helped and counted on came to his aid. He said since then he has been very careful about who he allows into his space or even helps.

As he said this, all I felt for him was pity, because that, I believe, is why he has not recovered.
He stopped giving help and he started doing business.
Business is anything you do in other to get profit.

Friends it was never written, give and it shall be returned back to you, neither did it say shall the same man will give back to you. So when you give and expect some kind of return from the same person you helped, that's trading oh oga.

When you are not absolutely dependent on the God of supply, this is what the Lord told Jeremiah 17:5 "Thus saith the LORD;Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD".

So here is my question to you today, are giving help or trading it?

It's Important you answer. If it's trading then like Don Vito Corleone in the movie "Godfather" tell them you will be back to collect; but if you're giving the scriptural way, look to God "and the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee..." Isaiah 60:10.

In my life I give knowing that "It is more blessed to give than to receive" and that God is the rewarder though he will use men and as I continue to look unto him, my face will always be enlightened (always receive fresh ideas): and my face will not ashamed.
