"Helane" - Oil Portrait from Life
As a professional painter for 45 years, I’ve been successful not only from sales of my work to art collectors, but through barter arrangements, too.

Helane is an artist-friend in Los Angeles who did some design work for me. In return, I painted her portrait from life. With soft, cool sidelight coming in directly from the right through a north window, I worked to capture her sweet personality. When she saw the completed painting, she smiled and said, "You got my pug nose!"
