Why so many new year's resolutions fail

Many people make new year's resolutions based on a relatively arbitrary time frame: the change of a calendar year.

During this time the weather is colder, the days are shorter, and there are many holidays that keep us busy. This should be a time for rest, contemplation, maybe a little indoor cleaning. After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it's no wonder that people fail to keep their new year's resolutions. They have absolutely no energy left to maintain motivation.

For many people, the resolution to loose weight tops the list. But many people find it hard to keep going to the gym when it would be so much nicer to curl up under a blanket and read a book or watch TV.

Instead, maybe we should focus on starting new resolutions in the spring. The spring is a time where the sun starts to come out a little earlier and stay a little later. It's warmer so we are less likely to want to stay inside as much. We might even have that restless energy from being indoors all winter. Use that energy for your resolution!

The spring is a time for new beginnings, when seeds are planted and little blooms start showing up. Plant your own seeds and start something new.

Bright blessings!
